Can somebody explain Curve business model?

Doesn’t Curve also pass on the MCC these days? In other words you’ll probably pick up cash advance fees even with Fronted?

Yes, but card issuers differ in terms of which MCCs they’ll treat as cash and not; with LBG and NWG on the ‘very tight’ end and Barclaycard on the generous end.

Unrelated but, IMO cash withdrawals overseas should be treated differently from domestic ones, but I know no one is doing that

Also, SumUp the other day garnered a fee from Aqua (the Rewards card). Luckily Aqua have this policy where they generally wave the first charge from any specific merchant so you’re not caught out by this kinda shit

At the very least, we should be able to see MCCs on the little PSD2 authentication windows (along with if our issuer charges a fee).

It always worked out for me that I was getting more in cashback than the fee but that’s really only a runner if you get something else on top which, for me, was the insurance.

Wasn’t there another outfit that was talking about doing essentially a Curve clone? Haven’t heard about that for ages.

That’s the thing. :smirk:

vitracash?

Change if wording on their website. It now starts off saying ‘Starting from 5.99 per month for Curve X’. Wonder if this means that they’re about to drop the free plan?

Forgot about them. Dire reviews about the app.

There was another one with a polychromatic card. Can’t remember the name.

Lanistar, but only available in Brazil for now.

That kinda merde (pardon my French) is from your card issuer (i.e. Aqua/New Day) not the merchant.
