One thing I have found, is that where I live (not a huge town, but also not exactly a rural village either) is the very limited acceptance of Amex.
Yes, I can use it for petrol (although the cheapest garage in town doesn’t take it 
) and our supermarket shopping, but apart from that, I do struggle to find many places to use it.
