Lloyds current account / mobile app: Any good?

Yes, that’s another way to make sure that only the account-holder’s authorised device is logged-in presumably.

It’s potentially annoying for people with two phones though!

Indeed, and the app even allows direct calling pre-authenticated and other similar features. Barclays allow you to confirm it’s you talking to their telephone banking team via the app as well. So the app needs to be even more secure when used as an authentication device in this way.

Indeed, it’s arguably a useful fallback to be able to verify presence at a physical address easily if required.

You can do this with Lloyds too.

In my experience, Lloyds allow you to direct dial via the app which automatically verifies it is you.

Barclays allow this plus a separate measure which allows you to seamlessly pass security while on the call and verify you are speaking to a genuine Barclays employee. You get a push notification from the app which says something like “You are speaking to JOHN from Barclays. Press to confirm” and you can use the app to confirm it’s you.

It serves a dual purpose of getting you verified but also alerting you to attempted impersonation fraud.

Lloyds push notifications have stopped working for me. Anyone else noticed this?

Mine still come hours later as usual. (iOS)

Thanks @Amazon_Parcel
I’m not getting any notifications at all and all alerts are turned on - tried to turn off/on in app but get error message. Lloyds must have an issue somewhere unless it’s related to iOS 16.0. I haven’t update to 16.1 yet

Lloyds has planned maintenance this Saturday 17th between 2:30am -6:50 am

Today I opened a joint account with my SO in the app. The journey was way smoother than I thought it would be. She initiated the process, gave me the code she was shown on screen. I used the code in my app and approved the opening. She was then able to proceed with completing the process.
We are switching the joint Metro to Lloyds for the free £175 bribe. We shall downgrade to classic same day the bribe pops in.

Anyone noticed the new Lloyds bank mobile app look?
I have it on iOS but feels like letters are smaller than they were before. I haven’t changed device settings or anything. (iOS)

No change on Android yet. Next month, I’ve read.

It looks like Lloyds are abolishing some foreign transaction charges from their Club account along with upping the interest free limit to £100 and fee to £5.

From 14 April 2025 we’re removing our debit card fees when you use your Club Lloyds debit card to:
1. Make payments in a foreign currency.
2. Take out money in foreign currency or pounds sterling outside the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man. This is at a cash machine or over the counter.
3. Take out money in a foreign currency at a cash machine in the UK, Channel Islands or Isle of Man.

These conditions don’t change the exchange rate that applies to these transactions.

The exchange rate is bit of an odd phrase though. Not clear if they’re leaving the percentage loading to match the other high street banks or essentially matching First Direct.
