Just checked and you are indeed. I think that’s a pity, because you returning might get the Curve community out of its ‘winter sleep’, it could certainly use some ‘turmoil’.
I think what you’re saying is you should fund me opening a fintech
I have an account with them, but don’t use the community as I just found it unusable with the posting restriction and by the times post got approved they made no sense to the overall discussion.
Hopefully this place can grow into a good finch resource as there’s a good mix of people here unlike a certain other place that can’t handle being told what they are and respect differences of opinion.
Small, but perfectly formed.
You’re right, the quality of chat here is up there. Long may it grow……
Does anybody know how to contact the admin of the Monzo community? Suspended on there, yet they haven’t anonymised my account, and I want all my posts deleting.
Sick of how they allow the same members to blatantly humiliate and bully others who dare to be slightly critical, yet they allow prolific Starling bashing.
Suggest you DM Alan Doe. He seems to be the main forum chap.
You could email them in the hope it’d get through to him. You might be better off, though, letting it lie and move on.
Send a request to their data protection officer
Do you know how long the suspension is for?
What’s your username over there? because it usually shows the suspension expiry on your public profile.
I can message Alan and ask what you’d need to do in this situation if you like?
Thanks. I’ll PM you.
I tend to try and not talk about how other forums are run but I feel I need to say something and perhaps this is the only appropriate place to do so. Just DMing the moderator wouldn’t really help so here I am
Today on the Community, a community member was trying to discuss their recent negative experience with Monzo support and making a large payment over the weekend. It turns out it’s not possible, and Monzo don’t make this known.
The whole thread was quite calm and constructive with people suggesting how this could be improved. There was no speculation about account closures, no personal attacks and no out of hand flagging. Yet this discussion wasn’t allowed to continue and had to be shut down for no real reason. It wasn’t even discussing account-specific issues, just comparing how different banks deal with large payments and how Monzo could improve their communication.
Oh well
I wonder if there have been some laws laid down behind the scenes as part of the discussions that went on whilst it was offline/read-only? I read an article the other day that said there is now no link to the community forums anywhere on the Monzo website - I haven’t checked myself but if that’s correct, it doesn’t sound good for the future of the forum.
I mean the reason was it was making them look bad!?
I find it factually correct that it’s not mentioned that you can’t arrange to move large sums at the weekend at feel that most other banks would have some way to action this.
Overall the thread was constructive and positive in the tone of wanting to improve the methods and way large transactions are dealt with; what did come across is Monzo’s want to move away from the subject and not address the problem in any way.
Just noticed this!
I’ve decided to message and query the decision to lock it. Doesn’t make sense to me personally. I thought the discussion was interesting, especially as it was starting to head down the route of how other banks handle those requests.
Perhaps a discussion we can have here? It’s interesting to learn how banks handle these rarer interactions that are otherwise widely unknown.
Please let us know if you hear back! But I expect it’ll be the cookie cutter “can’t discuss account specifics” answer
Pretty much this, I reckon. An opportunity to put the brakes on and set the scene whereby the moderator can legitimately pause conversation threads whilst consideration is given to the point at issue.
@AlanDoe is open about that and he commits to responding swiftly. That will require some equally fast footwork from the Monzo team to explain the way forward around large payment handling.
The aggro on that forum shouldn’t be allowed to spill over here.
And it’s Monday.
A number of posts will be deleted. Why anyone would think they’d pass muster on a forum which strives for measured discussion evades me.
Where appropriate PMs will be sent….
And let’s please move on….?
