On a lighter note, I wish they’d reopen it just so I can clear the 1 new notification badge on the discourse app, it’s been bothering me all weekend and you apparently can’t clear it when it’s in read only.
Damn you @anon62610374, you broke my app with your like on my 6 month old post
Could you expand on this? I’m on the Freetrade and it seems alright to me, no better or worse than any other forum. But obviously I could be missing something that is clear to an outside set of eyes.
I wish FTT was in read only mode so I could find some of the posts shared on there as a baseline for examples!
Thinking back to Freetrade Plus, when that was first released in beta, there was some push back from folks over what you’re getting for the price, and the paywalling of some stocks that were otherwise freely accessible. There was one employee, a co founder I think, who doesn’t take well to criticism and has a tendency to be a little overzealous in the way they conduct themselves.
There was incident not too long ago where an investor shared some concerns they had with Freetrade’s free shares and asked if it was a scam. They were belittled and mocked by almost everyone that engaged in their thread. I think they were offended at scam being used to describe Freetrade.
Perhaps it’s not the best word to use, but when you and those you invite don’t receive your free shares, and the company dodges you when you try to query it, it does sound a little bit like a scam.
Whenever I’ve hopped on and had a read through of the threads, folk trying to share some constructive feedback or get some support are usually met with a lukewarm reception and have a bit of a hard time.
The threads discussing the actual stocks though are pretty great, and it’s those discussions that I keep tabs on.
Ah yes. I think these are all fair points, I agree. I think there is a tendency sometimes for basic questions or dissenting views to be jumped on as a grand conspiracy against Freetrade sometimes.
Yes, the stock discussion threads are really useful and interesting. Some of them have made me a decent bit of money too which is a bonus.
secondly if there is an issue it should be taken up with @Mathew directly I think
Personally I like the @anon98763397 over here but the problem with pseudonym’s is that people use them so they cannot be identified.
Either way unless the a real life person is being doxxed I don’t see there is much anyone can do. For example there is already a Robyn and RobynJackson on Twitter. Neither are me so there is nothing I can do
Thanks! So now i know you’re you! Why on earth would someone take your pseudonym and photo! I genuinely believed the @anon98763397 I’d been engaging with on here was you!
Haha wow - as if someone is impersonating you. What on Earth is going on in the wider FinTech community, there are some “interesting”‘characters knocking about.
