You just have to accept that you’ve been cursed I think  Bankera, Nationwide and now Cynergy.

In fairness - Nationwide was 100% my fault this time :joy:

Let’s hope I can do it all from scratch tonight. The fact you can’t resume an application is poor imo.

Cynergy I’ve got no idea what’s going on!

Do Halifax/Lloyds still operate that Spanish bank that they did maybe 20 years back, or did that close down? Would be handy if it were still around.

Also thinking that Credit Agricole had a ‘British’ branch for folks intending to move to France but I’ve not heard about that in a while either.

Just a thought, but would it be worth starting one of the parliamentary petitions to get the FCA to relax the rules a bit? I can’t honestly see the problem if major EU banks were allowed to use their existing banking licence to operate here as before. OK, you’re relying on the foreign ‘FCA’ but what’s the problem with letting people choose to do that if they wish? On that front, isn’t one of the top savings accounts relying on the French?

Never happening, loses leverage. You could go in person and open a non-resident account I’d imagine, but the UK guaranteeing passporting without even equivalency status by the EU would be political suicide for our banking sector

Lloyds sold it in 2013 to Banco Sabadell.

  1. As the EU refused to work on this basis this during the Brexit negotiations.

  2. The dangers of relying on a foreign deposit protection scheme/FCA

Cynergy account has finally appeared. It is a GB IBAN. Sent a Euro from Revolut - still pending so assuming they don’t do instant sepa like Fineco :frowning:

Did you check it here Credit Card BIN Numbers Database | Bank Identification Number Lookup | BIN List 2023 ? That seems to be the only accurate one (i.e. Chase as JP Morgan rather than Westpac etc.)…

Just the IBAN so far. I assume a card is on its way but I haven’t been told

Pretty much everything is done on the go-slow at Cynergy Bank. Trust me - I’m ….

Just think how bad it will be soon if they have an EU BIN and then get a sudden influx of Fineco customers

An influx of…me & you

By the sound of the Cynergy comments I’ve seen, that could easily double their customer base

The euro deposited same day - I just didn’t get an email like you do with the savings accounts

Within Faster Payments timeframe (2 hours)?

It must have been an Instant sepa

Instant in is good. Have you tried transferring out to see how fast that happens?

(Finger hovering over the apply now button when we see if it’s an EU BIN).

Haven’t sent out yet. Hoping a card is waiting when I get home from a trip…

We all now know what a Cynergy card looks like

What was the reliable bin checker again? The pin has come from Germany.

Came up Bank of Cyprus GB - my old Fineco card comes up GB too. The pin has a return address in Germany - guess I’ll just have to see how I get on.
