Yes, same here with my Amazon purchase.
Paid for a round in the pub last night and the notification came pretty much straight away, as I was picking my drinks off the bar.

Tuesday, half seven am.
Still waiting.
In no rush though tbf
Main account to Tandem is close to 40 minutes!
Don’t think I’ll be worrying about seconds.
Or will I
Indeed, it’s very minor.
I was initially not even sure if it was just me, given my slow internet here (some of you might remember me taking about that on FTT about a year ago) but other posters seeing the same makes me think it’s not.
It’s only a sight oddity, not even raising to the bar of being worthy of being dubbed as even a minor issue.
How is everyone finding the merchant data? From my testing yesterday:
Amazon: No logo, just the generic “two shopping bags” icon. No location data. Starling has logo but no location data.
TfL (bus journey): TfL logo, no location data. This is the same as Starling.
Pub #1 (independent) - Logo is for Zettle, their payment processor. No location data. Starling has no logo, but does have location data.
Pub #2 (Wetherspoons) - No logo, has location data. Merchant name shows as the name of the pub. Starling has the Wetherspoons logo, shows “Wetherspoons” as the merchant name, and has location data.
I don’t think they can do location data because of the way TfL works. They could maybe put the head office but that might be more confusing than no data at all.
I tried adding the card to Curve, which worked out and gave me a chance to try Chase 3D Secure. Everything was verified nicely through in-app confirmation, but to confirm I had to type in my app unlock code even though I had Face ID enabled (which is a bit annoying).
The Curve verification transaction had no data, and then once Curve reversed the authentication charge it disappeared completely from the Chase feed. I don’t like that really and would prefer if they showed a debit and credit, as Monzo and Starling do (but technically, as it was a reversed authorisation, it “dropping off” is OK).
Curve also don’t yet have a card image for Chase (not that I expected them to).
From reading the cashback exclusion details in the Chase app they mention that they identify excluded transactions through the MCC - so Curve transactions at non-excluded retailers should get cashback, which is good.
Is there a submit improvement for merchant name and logo button like Monzo and Starling?
I didn’t notice one?
Maybe there is and I haven’t seen it.
Try Triodos! Where it’s close to, if not bang on the full 2 hours.
Away from my phone atm, but will check later if no one else does. I don’t think I’ve seen anything though.
That’s totally a Triodos delay and not Chase’s fault though!
Definitely. That’s just how long it takes for my monthly £3 transfer from Monzo. Regrettably have decided to close it by switching it to Monzo though.
Yeah, I get that. I think I mentioned on here (or possibly The Other Place) about how merchant data is handled inconsistently for chains/multiples. The Wetherspoons I was in last night has the actual pub as the location, but the other one I go in has the head office as the location. I noticed this in relation to Starling, but I can see it being the same with Chase, judging by the raw data passed from the merchant to the bank.
I saw you posted that the other day! I was meaning to reply to it, but don’t think I did.
Anyway, your reasoning made total sense to me. To pay for Triodos when you are getting nothing from them just isn’t justifiable; at least with something like Monzo Plus you do get extra functionality.
Triodos is one of the few banks I’ve never used, the account is just too basic (and having to pay for it too makes the whole thing a very unattractive proposition in my opinion).
Yeah, this is a real issue.
Long term, I could see it being solved with a Flux-style system where extra rich transaction information is passed to the bank directly via POS systems.
I’m sure some wouldn’t like that though, on privacy grounds.
@Seb @anon62610374 Thanks If there isn’t the ability to crowdsource the data through customers self-reporting, I do wonder how on Earth they’re going to make their set of logos and merchant names more comprehensive and accurate. Mind you, Starling allow customers to submit corrections and their data is still garbage! (…although it never used to be)
As an aside, I was speaking to Starling customer services last night regarding a different issue and at the end, when the assistant asked if there was anything else I was having problems with, I thought I’d just mention the total lack of logos and names of late… the guy just told me to continue to submit corrections and that they will be processed. I’m not so sure about that I know I don’t speak for everyone, but personally logos and simple merchant names are important to me and one of the major reasons I use fintechs for everyday spending. With Starling, it’s got to the point where because they’ve suddenly stopped recognising APPLE(.)COM/BILL as ‘iTunes,’ I’ve now got multiple iCloud subscriptions showing in my regular payments tab, one called iTunes with an Apple logo, another called ‘Itunes’ with no logo. As such, I’ve reluctantly moved my card subscriptions over to Monzo since their merchant data is far superior and the ability to manually mark a card payment as recurring when the app doesn’t automatically recognise it (usually annual subscriptions) is fantastic, and something I’ve submitted as a feature request to Starling in the past.
Just had my code come through
So when I made my second transfer into Chase from RBS, RBS blocked it and did a fraud check.
RBS call me - go through all the usual fraud checks - which is fine - but then say then say they won’t release the payment unless i give an explanation of why I’m opening an account with Chase. What the heck has that got to do with them ?
I was an hour after you, in signing up.
May not be long now then.
One thing I’ve just remembered from last night (I’d had a few beers ), was that I had a transaction declined at my local mini-supermarket. Tried paying on Apple Pay on my watch, it declined… tried again, same thing. Ended up paying with Starling instead. I had sufficient funds in my account, so not sure what the problem was.
They don’t seem to be strictly following the order in which people signed up to the waitlist. I signed up the morning of the launch and haven’t received a thing yet, while some people joined the list yesterday afternoon and were invited within a few hours!
