So, yesterday, with two loads of washing done, the dishwasher on a clean only program, the TV on for around 5 hours and the electric oven on for around 30 minutes, the Bright App reports that we used £2.43 of leccy (including standing charge).
Pre energy crisis, that would’ve cost us around £0.90p
My wife stayed over with a couple who are our friends the other night whilst away on a work trip. They used over £7 of leccy in one day, but that did include charging both their electric cars.
To those who use the budgeting features of energy monitoring apps, how do you decide on a budget? With weather being unpredictable and changing every month, I’m not sure how to set a useful weekly or monthly budget to aim for.
Best I can think of is look at how much KWh I used for same month last year (via historical bills) and set that as a budget and aim to use a bit less. Will require updating budget every month though.
I’m liking Hugo’s usage screen, but am finding the budget screen a bit confusing. I don’t understand the uncoupling between various elements that I would assume should be coupled. Specifically, when I update a KWh budget it doesn’t seem to auto-update £ budget. Also when I update for a given period (year) it doesn’t auto-update budget other periods (month, week, day).
I use a spreadsheet which shows a rolling 12 month average.
I’ve never really understood that screen. I would prefer VAT and Standing Charge to be replicated in the Usage screen as well as Budget. R-
