Launch next week for those at the top of the waitlist with physical cards early next year. Not sure if I want to go for it if I have to wait for a card whilst paying a monthly fee.
Yes, a fiver a month with or without a card for an emoney account doesn’t sound like a great proposition.
Got my Fana invite on Wednesday. Went to spam, good sign already.
No app just a webpage being referred to as an “app”. At least have the courtesy of putting a web app into the App Store…
£5 per month “subscription” that you pay with a different card via CPA (eg from an Amex or even Monzo card), plus £3 for a physical card in January.
Feels like a rushed pre-alpha product. I predict they have about 6 months before they have to shut the whole thing down.
Here’s a guide for signing up if anyone’s interested: https://scribehow.com/shared/Signing_up_and_creating_a_virtual_Fana_card__dVO8kLnhSveFDrNkMxbbQg?msID=f5ac81b4-a7ae-47b2-8a4f-2bbb28c06f4d
Really encouraging that their guide doesn’t say “Read the T&Cs” but just “Click continue”
For the avoidance of doubt, I didn’t go for it.
I have checked the details I used for the beta still work. Here is how it looks when logged in.
I don’t know what IP means on the balance here. Influence points??
It takes long to load pages and I got multiple network error messages requiring to refresh the tab.
I love how it refers to the monthly account fee as a
“monthly rolling pledge”
Pledge to keep the company afloat
Plus an actual charge of £3 to get the physical cards.
What on earth makes them think people will pay £5 a month for an emoney account? Well I suppose there is Cashplus at a tenner a month but it looks fairly functional and is for a specific market.
I guess Triodos is their model here. Except I think you probably get more for your £3 a month. The whole thing seems like it was the product of some Hampstead village dinner party conversation…
An actual FSCS protected bank account for one.
And some clever way to find VC money to burn. Office with free coffee and snacks, and “founder” on a tech bubble CV.
Got my invite this morning. I was #218 so looks like they’re shooting for under 200 virtual cards per week!
In practice, way fewer than that as nobody here seems to have signed up yet (I’m joining the list of people who aren’t signing up).
I was over 400th so I assume an invite is a remote possibility - not that I would use it
I’d be curious to know how many invites turn into sign ups.
I don’t think they will be rushing to let us know.
April 2024 for closure ?
What’s the USP of these guys - a charitable donation?
I don’t think they’ll make it to April if this forum is anything to go by. We’re first adopters and even we’re not adopting this pup.
Or perhaps they will? Would the financial backers be OK about them continuing to send out invites if nobody took them up? They can’t even blame the post office as it’s virtual only at the moment.
Well, a ‘paid for’ prepaid Card with zero bells and whistles, AND donations as you wish. What could possibly go wrong?
Any update from this side?
I’m still getting the emails from them.
Did anybody open an account?
Me too. I occasionally open the app - nothing of interest
Possibly now dead, reading a post on another forum.
