Well for those of you who, like me, went through the wringer opening an account with them…..![]()
So sad to have them forced to exit for what doesn’t seem like a particularly good reason.
Brexit fallout, it seems. They’re not alone.
Pity though, because they brought something unusual to the sector, quirky though it may have been.
I signed up because of that, rather than any desire to use it.
I found it quite handy for the holidays.
Also very useful when I gave it a spin with share trading. Usually, it’s three days to settle a trade but with Fineco you could sell shares and lift out the proceeds with the card right afterwards.
I’m sure I didn’t even use half of the things they offered but quite a loss.
Honestly I expected it, they felt like they were here because they’re a financial firm and needed to be in Europe’s largest financial centre, rather than because they were super committed to the business here
Another possible Fineco alternative: Payz EUR card is coming up as issued in Ireland.
Sad to see Fineco closing down even faster now. Lose your card and it won’t be replaced.
Have you seen the fees and restrictions? ![]()
And it’s a Discover/Diners Card card…
Always fancied a Diners/Discover, but you can get a MasterCard too. I got GBP on the Discover, EUR on the MasterCard.
You get lounge access for £21 on the Diners card.
Haven’t fully got my head round all the charges yet ![]()
It looks like there’s a lifetime limit (fairly low) on how much you can spend on the card in the free tier. The rest of the charges are bonkers
Yes, but there’s an offer on at the moment to get the cards free. You need to upgrade to Silver to do that which pretty much removes the limits. Also, that removes a bunch of charges e.g. you get a sort code and account number so no change to transfer money in. Transfering out usxa different matter, but I could do that free via Curve into Revolut.
Not as good as Fineco for sure though.
