Fineco

I think some of the posts in here should be split into the card design thread. It’s a mess in here with all the OT posts.

So…. Will I need to specifically order the card? Must admit, that step isn’t clear

Had a speed-read through the T&Cs and it looks like no fees apply to run the account. :slightly_smiling_face:

For the few still interested, I’ve had a reply to my Saturday email about the debit card. It’ll be issued 4 days after account opening. So that’s today…:slightly_smiling_face:

I wasn’t given a timescale, but let me know when you receive it. I am not holding my breath.

Apparently it comes with DPD or DHL, as Fineco’s experiences with the (Italian) post are not brilliant. I’ve not been prompted to pay for it yet, as it costs £2.95. There’s more than that (just) in the account, but I’ve not been charged.

Right ho.

I’ve put a few bob in, but I’m not sure yet how you set up a bank transfer out…

You can’t until you’ve validated the account, which you can’t do without the card

Ah, thanks - makes sense.

My card has just turned up ! Came via a courier (DHL) in a huge envelope, with a tiny one inside that contained the card. I will activate it later and report back any issues encountered.

EDIT: So, I “activated” my card, entered the 8 digits of the middle of the card that I couldn’t input previously to order a card…and as with @Graham, I had to write to them to request it by email.

It then asked me to request a PIN code for the card and sent me an OTP code to request the PIN code (!), and…hasn’t actually sent me a PIN. I’ve now done this three times now (once online, twice in the app), so there is obviously an issue at their end. It’s even confirmed the number to which it is being sent, so it’s not that. And it got the OTP to the correct phone, so it can’t be a wrong number. It also also helpfully emailed me telling me (3 times) that the PIN code has been texted to me. Let me take a wild guess that the system they are using can’t actually text abroad from Italy…

The help page, helpfully, is in Italian. I’ve sent a service request, but I am not holding my breath.

Yep, just got a reply to my email regarding this earlier this morning. It would be a good idea if they informed the customer at the end of sign up that their card will be on its way, as opposed to saying you still need to order a card when you visit the Cards section of the web interface.

This is something I’m wondering about… there’s exactly nothing in my account atm so good luck to them collecting it!

With the texts I’ve received from Fineco so far, the OTPs came through instantly but the ones relating to account function have taken many hours (often next day). Perhaps it will eventually show up…?

But admit it, folks…… we’re having such fun….:joy:

What’s the appeal of Fineco?

The fast and easy onboarding process and helpful, quick support

Non-UK IBAN. Seemingly free SEPA transfers. Euro denominated account

No word from Fineco yet, their average response time seems to be around 4 working days, so this Friday or perhaps Monday next week might be the target date for a semi-literate and completely incomprehensible response. Nor any sign of the errant codes.

I fully expect them to completely disclaim any responsibility and say that it "must be a problem with my phone" - the same phone that allows their system to send an OTP but not a PIN code, it seems.

Should be interesting when you and @Graham get the cards whether you have the same problems as me?

Think I will give this a miss seems a lot of hard work to get one.

So, amazingly I get a response today. It tells me a completely different way of obtaining your PIN.

"Regarding your query, if you do not receive the SMS with the card pin code, we kindly suggest you to do the following:

-please activate the mobile code service from the Fineco APP: Menu>Mobile code and follow the instructions.

- after that, from the APP, please go in menu> cards> “show card data” and then “show card pin code”.

And indeed you can do this and it did show the PIN code. I now have a fully functioning  Fineco visa Euro debit card, it seems. What delights await me ?

And, just to be clear, at no cost?

Yes, just logged in - and found 2 different answers to the query above - the correct one (above) and a slightly more tart response saying that “it is not their fault if I don’t receive their texts (which is the response I was expecting!)”. I have £0.80p and €2 in the account and they haven’t deducted any of it. Sending me the card from Milan by courier must have cost them €20 at least.

Don’t try and use their services on Friday pm as the whole site will be down
