I did have a Flex Direct when they had the 5% interest offer on, which just sat dormant when the offer ended.
It was just a lucky coincidence that that offer came to an end as my annual travel insurance and breakdown cover were up for renewal at around the same time, so I just upgraded the Flex Direct.
I’ve also had the Flex now for over 30 years, so it just seems right to keep my oldest account.

Out of curiosity, do you know how things would work (wages paid in, direct debits paid out) if I were to upgrade?

It makes no difference to regular payments.

If you change account type, you still keep the same sort code and account number.
