high spenders and semi-frequent flyers who are incredibly loyal to BA.
I love rewards schemes but I honestly can’t see how the real world savings (i.e. saved expense on things which you would actually pay for - especially if you consider the possibility of not flying on BA or a partner airline) stack up with airmiles of any flavour. The best and only real way of actually saving money with Avios is to turn 'em in to Nectar points as far as I can see.
Good thing I have never been eligible to get a card from them.
I don’t even know why. Even after them rejecting me, someone else gives me a card with limits above £10k.
At this point I think I’d sooner ditch eBay than Amex.
I wonder how many are going to change their card issuer just to keep using eBay? It seems a little self-defeating on their part, just as it was with Amazon and Visa.
Not really in this case. We kept the UK house and it was always easier to prove that we were living in the UK than to prove that we were living in France. Also, for technical reasons, I was always UK resident despite actually living in France. Strange, I know.
Applied to things like the driving licence too. I had to renew that whilst I was over there and thought I’d have to switch to a french one. However, I checked the renewal form and it defined ‘UK resident’ as having somewhere to live in the UK and paying tax in the UK. I met both, so could renew it as a UK licence. And, yes, I was also paying tax in France.
