It’s the lack of communication that irks me, given the fact we’re beyond the date where the most recent comment suggested read only would end, and nothing.
It’s things like this that really sour my relationships with companies. I’m feeling pretty much exactly the same way as @anon55596034. The community plays a role in our enjoyment of Monzo as a bank. I likely wouldn’t be using Monzo as my main account right now if not for the folks on there sharing feedback, helping one another get the most out of Monzo, and staff engaging with the feedback, which was starting to become more commonplace recently too.
There’s a lot of other more important reasons that I use them as my bank, but to say it doesn’t contribute to that decision at all would be a lie.
I don’t know, I never found the forum to be as bad as the general consensus here, yh ok mods got a bit trigger happy occasionally but I enjoyed contributing, had lots of good discussions with other people(some have joined here which is good) and the discussions with staff were always great(albeit becoming rarer and rarer, especially since the redundancies last year)
I agree with you that it’s poorly managed, but there are also a lot of decent folk.
For me it dates back to the closure of N26. Whilst a number of folk did interrogate and attack me over my liking and preferring of N26 over Monzo, including a few moderators.
Equally there were a number of good folk who tried to help get transition over to Monzo’s features and get the best out of them. It never became an ideal replacement for my envelope budgeting with N26, but I got fairly close thanks to those people.
It was a hobbled experience for a while, until someone (fairly recently) came along and suggested setting a pot to transfer all incomes to, then pay myself a monthly salary from that pot. It’s completely changed how Monzo works for me.
I’ve got more out of Monzo as a result of the community than I ever otherwise would have.
Indeed they should, it didn’t really answer anything though did it, and the “not in a rush to close it” comment does make it feel like it ha and expiry date
I’m probably just reading too much into that, but they didn’t say “We have no plans to close it”.
I’m pretty sure(obviously not 100%) that Cooky does a lot of it. You’d like to think somebody with th job title Social Media Manager would inform their team what’s going on
There’s not really any entitlement to updates - especially as at the moment there isn’t an update. I understand why people would want an update, but when there’s nothing to say…
The community won’t be going, but that’s all I know.
(this is the least official post I’ve ever written by the way and I’ve never posted in a more personal capacity )
