Revolut Metal plan changes

Revolut are changing their Metal plan benefits - received an email this week:

From 20 July 2024, your plan’s cashback will no longer be available.
Removing cashback allows us to provide different features to keep giving you great value on your plan. So, from today you can:

  • Start earning RevPoints: you can now earn 1 point per £2 spent on your Revolut card as a Metal customer (compared to 1 point per £10 on Standard), with no upper limit on what you can earn. Earn points easily on everyday expenses, and exchange them for airline miles, Stays discounts, money off online shopping, and more.
  • Enjoy Chess.com, Masterclass, and The Athletic: discover your new subscriptions, all included with Metal. You can now access up to 13 partnership benefits, worth £1,900 annually, included with your plan at no extra cost.
  • Get new cover for jewellery and watches: your Everyday Protection insurance now includes jewellery and watches purchased with your Revolut account, covered up to £10,000 a year.
  • Make a claim with no cost for phone, laptop, tablet & more: now you won’t need to pay an excess for claims on eligible items with Purchase Protection insurance, like your phone, laptop, tablet, jewellery, watches, and more. Items must be purchased from your Revolut account.

And making changes to Travel Insurance.

Travel insurance: from 25 July 2024, we’re making changes to your travel insurance terms.

  • Travel insurance will only cover trips purchased with your Revolut account. Trips purchased before 25 July 2024 (even if purchased with a non-Revolut card) will stay covered under the travel insurance.
  • Only trips of up to 30 days will be covered, instead of 90 days.
  • Travel insurance will cover your trip delay expenses if the trip is delayed by 8 hours or more, instead of 4 hours.
SmartDelay: after 19 July 2024, SmartDelay will no longer be available on Revolut.

For me, these changes are okay. Never really made much of the cashback offer. I will make use of the chess.com, masterclass and probably the athletic subs.
Travel insurance is an interesting one, as recently i successfully claimed off Revolut’s insurance, although hadn’t purchased the trip via Revolut. But, i have other travel insurance in place so no big deal.
Smart Delay - never made us of it. And maybe i get lounge access with my AMEX anyway.
