There was never a chance that Natwest Group were going to issue cards with a different scheme (other than during transitional periods like we’ve just come out of) just for one oddball (former) branch.
Some time within the last week or so Natwest Group removed Child’s website and no longer list it under their Brands - contrary to the RBS insistence that only the branch would go and not the brand itself. Drummonds is still there at least.
The copy on the Child’s page itself hasn’t changed other than to remove reference to the branch being open, and what they say about the brand remaining is of course true.
Think it’s safe to confirm that page’s existence alone means very little about the brand’s future.
Cheque book has also changed. Doesn’t say ‘Premium Account’ any more and has a more prominent watermark. Will take a picture when I can dig out the one for my other account.
Still has the Fleet Street address tho, amusingly.
Yes, in the RBS app. It’s just a generic representation of the standard RBS card - the Apple Wallet image and the actual card are the Child & Co versions.
How long did it take you to have the invalid card message disappear? My card was issued yesterday and I’m getting that error today. Will wait till tomorrow before trying again. Although with Bank Hol might take until Tuesday if overnight batch processes don’t run weekends/Bank Hols
I realised when I was taking pictures that despite removing the ‘Premium Account’ wording (which although superfluous was fairly harmless) the ‘your attention is drawn…’ message on the cover remains despite that page being removed entirely - as is the ‘transaction record’ - you can see in the image the very first page is now a cheque.
Also the word ‘Date’ on the cheques has changed font. Despite all that the branch address remains the old one!
The change was perhaps prompted by the ‘wording’ referencing Visa lots of times, rather than the changes to the branch.
Looks like project “Go to Drummonds and Beg Them for a Drummonds Card” is go tomorrow. If they don’t drive me out the front door or tell me I need an appointment, what are high street banks likely to ask for these days? One proof of ID and one proof of address? Will a Child & Co statement do for the latter?
