Savings Accounts

Tandem are changing the connected banks number to just ONE single account.

Unless you tell them which one to use, they will default it to the last one that you used, or one with a regular payment.

Check your emails if you have a Tandem account.

Mine has a tenner in, so not too fussed tbh

Banks will quickly reduce rates on savings accounts but take ages to increase them if the base rate went up.

BoE drop the rate by 0.25pp, so what do Atom do?

Standard saver drops 0.35pp

Reward Saver withdrawal rate drops by 0.50pp

Never saw them raise rates by more than the BoE change :man_shrugging:

That is unfortunately the business model for many new digital banks now like Chase, Chip, Atom, etc.

They launch with promotional rates to get new customers in, then they gradually reduce the rate below the BoE rate, cutting a bit extra each time, hoping people don’t pay close attention or aren’t bothered to move their cash.

Monument Bank Cash ISA crashing 0.51% from 29 May 2025
4.76% to 4.25%

Just as I was in the process of transferring ISA in to it because I never predicted a half-percent point drop on a 0.25pp lower of bank rate.

Just noticed that in the same email, Monument explain that OTT drop.

Apparently, when the BoE lowered their rate in February, Monument did not respond.

As I was not a customer until March, I was unaware of that, hence it looked steep.

Tembo cash ISA showing now as “N/A %” in the app, suggesting to me they are about to reduce it. Most of my ISA funds are currently in Chip which is, for now, holding onto 4.96% AER with 0.9% 12-month bonus.

Shows 4.8% in my app.

Interesting, maybe it’s just me!

I’m using android, just in case you are on apple as sometimes there are differences with apps.

Mine has now changed back to 4.8%, I think it was just a blip.

Tembo LISA down to 4.33% from 19th June. Still above base rate which I’m happy with.

Presume Cash ISA will follow shortly.

An observation: Atom was one of the first out of the traps telling me of the rate reduction. Interesting to note that Atom has reduced by 0.6% whilst Moneybox by just the 0.25%.

Tembo reducing ISA rates sharply

This just in from Starling by email:

  1. The Cash ISA rate will remain at 3.85% AER interest (3.77% tax-free) variable*.
  2. The Easy Saver rate will remain at 3.75% AER interest (3.68% gross) variable**.

So, that’s nice.

If only they’d let me open them

Yes noticed that. Their rates are so uncompetitive though, that they’ve still plenty of headroom before any base rate reduction gets close :face_with_diagonal_mouth:

They’re on par with Trading212 now though…and Nationwide for that matter.

Though Trading 212 seem to have retreated from market leading rates of late.
