Lovely living by the sea isn’t it
I can see the sea from my lounge window
Oh dear, we’ve gone way off topic ![]()
Allowed - a one-off opportunity as it’s Christmas ![]()
To bring it back, Starling will likely close my account when I retire to Tasmania in, all being well, around summer 2027. And the UK won’t update my state pension either when I’m in Australia ![]()
And yet if you were to move to the USA, you would get the annual uplift to your pension. In Canada, you don’t ![]()
Sounds a devil of an idea ![]()
Maybe when Trump annexes it, that’ll change ![]()
Looks like my Starling Connected Card is going to bite the dust.
Tbf, not used in probably the entire life of the card that is about to expire. It served its purpose, but is no longer used or required.
Starling have given me opportunity to keep it alive, by using the card within 14 days, however, I honestly cba doing even that ![]()
Must admit, I forgotten about it. I asked Starling about it and was reminded you could only use it for direct purchases (and not at the ATM as I was attempting to do).
Even more confusingly, there are four US states with which you can exchange your UK driving licence if you move.
Apparently you can now add additional saving spaces to your savings account, with automatic transfers (I don’t think this was available before?)
No, that’s new. At 2.50% though, I personally won’t bother as I have savings accounts at twice that rate.
I still can’t open the easy saver ![]()
It’s still good, especially for those that use the normal spaces as now they can at least gain something on their Savings.
This is excellent news! Although I wouldn’t use it as my main savings account, I do rely on Spaces for quite a lot throughout the year for budgeting. Wonder if I’ll have to recreate every Space? Edit: yes, I do ![]()
I think these spaces will be ideal for putting money aside for a year or two, particularly if you like paying for insurance or subscriptions a year at a time. The bulk of your savings you’ll probably want elsewhere at a better rate, but I quite like how they’ve set this up.
I wondered why it took so long to add automatic transfers, but I guess now we know. ![]()
Harald McPike had lobbied for the group to launch its initial public offering in London but growing frustrations with progress around reforms to City regulations have led to a change of heart, City AM understands.
“Things will have to move a lot faster or it is out the door sharply,” a person familiar with McPike’s thinking said.
McPike provided a crucial $70m investment to Starling in 2016 during its infancy and retains a stake of around a third according to Companies House filings in February 2025. The Bahamas-based investor is now under the impression Starling is warming to a US listing, a move he had previously pushed back against, sources said.
