Zopa Referral

Much appreciated if anyone wants to sign up. It’s been replacing Chase as much as possible for me, right now I believe they’re still offering the 7.5 12 months (£300 a month max) fixed saver as well as 2% current account interest and 2% cashback on direct debits (£1500/yr). Sure it’ll be watered down later, but that’s to worry about later.

Small gripe. No one has offered me a new Biscuit card (I have a founders ed one)… but I want one!

There is no deal on this planet that would persuade me to return to this incompetent bunch!

This changed to variable 7.1% regular saver months ago.

Incompetent? I’ve not had any issues with them, but maybe that’s just me.

No idea, mine is fixed. 7.1% still isn’t bad though, right?

Yes. Even after I severed my banking relationship with them, they’ve still managed to cause me issues by reporting my ISA to HMRC as a taxable savings account!

Still not sorted properly with HMRC who are charging me tax on my ISA interest :person_facepalming:

Blimey - that’s a new one.
Yes, I found them wanting - partly because they’d branched into areas that were new to them.

Today’s email, coincidentally AFTER I submitted a complaint the weekend….

Hi there,
We’re getting in touch to update you on a recent issue with how your ISA interest was reported to HMRC by Zopa – and to confirm that the situation has now been resolved.

Firstly, we’re really sorry that you’ve had to contact us because of this reporting error, and for the confusion it’s caused.

As soon as we became aware of the mistake, we corrected it – however, it understandably took some time for HMRC to update their records.

We’ve now had confirmation from HMRC that everything has been corrected, and they’ll be reversing any tax code changes or payment demands that were triggered by the initial error.

If you’re opted into digital communications with HMRC, you’ll have already received an email from them notifying you of this change. If you’re opted into paper communications, you’ll receive a letter in the next week or two.

For the avoidance of doubt:
• Your certificate of interest for the 2024/25 tax year has always been correct.
• If you’ve already submitted your tax return or plan to do so, you have the right information.
• There’s nothing you need to do – HMRC has updated your record for you.

Glad that’s sorted !

If only it was. HMRC have still not corrected the amount owed for 24/25, despite correcting 25/26!
