Yes, I’ve tried all of that. Indeed I’ve just tried to transfer the remaining £8 odd still on the card to my verified and linked bank account and it even stops me from doing that! So, I’ll spend that remaining balance and that will be that. I might even close my PayPal account. Never had this issue before with any provider. They can shove it as far as I’m concerned ![]()
My relationship with PayPal ended almost before it began. They wouldn’t even give me any type of account, full stop. They did a soft search and said that they were sorry but they couldn’t offer me an account.
This was about 3 years ago and I decided there and then that they weren’t worth bothering with.
Well this is all genuinely weird. I’ve given it one last go on topping up. So I put a custom amount in of £1.30 odd pence to even the balance up to a straight tenner. Lo and behold! It worked! It’s too bizarre if you ask me ![]()
I have a use for a PayPal account in my portfolio, for sure, just not of this debit card.
No better for me than Curve was…….and I binned that ages ago.
Indeed, does anyone remember Algbra?
I genuinely don’t miss that.
Still have it but I’ve not used it in a year or more. Must see about closing it.
Yeah, closed that a long time ago!
Still keep their card. ![]()
Why? I thought you weren’t exactly a fan of E Money? ![]()
Is there actually any benefit whatsoever for using the Algbra card?
WISE I like, on my visits to the Canaries for example, it’s really useful for taking Euros out of Banca March fee free except for the relatively tiny fee WISE charge for conversion.
I’m still utterly baffled with the whole adding money to my PayPal debit card because now it works just fine ![]()
I have no problem with eMoney. I just don’t keep funds with any eMoney service if not needed. The example of Paypal balance top up for example is not needed at all as the purchases can be funded directly from my linked card or bank while keeping bank protection and better customer service.
I use Wise abroad and regular weekly international transfers. I Still keep no balance there.
It was probably a glitch. I spent several months this year without being able to login to their app. They were always saying wrong 2FA code even after being autofilled from my auth app, even the passkey could not make it any better. It then suddenly started working again.
My PayPal points have been added. Still no physical card, though they did say the 29th December.
I requested a card on 14th, dispatched on 17th, turned up yesterday. Which isn’t that bad.
I was also told 29th December. But if Royal Mail around by you is anything like around by us, letters are very few and far between. Then yesterday, we ended up with about 10 letters in one go. But that’s for another thread ![]()
Remember delivery is by Royal Mail second class. Royal Mail have already confirmed having severe delays in over 48 Postal zones. Just hope you get lucky.
I am still lucky, I get letters everyday though I see some having dates far behind. For example one from Companies house dated 6th December was delivered on 18th.
I wonder if this is the first time that a major company has gone out of its way to kill itself off?
I’ve just received 300 bonus points as part of the PayPal+ signup bonus. Still no physical debit card though ![]()
Wow! Finally! Physical card just hit the door mat
It’s absurdly blue ![]()
I have never received this
Ok, so over the last 3 days, I’ve tried unsuccessfully to load credit onto my PayPal debit card via my linked bank account debit card.
I have on 3 occasions managed to load small amounts of credit via the above method and when it works, is instantaneous.
Having finally had enough of trying to add £50 to the PayPal debit card via my linked bank debit card, I phoned PayPal and asked them to look at why I can’t add funds from my linked bank debit card. The person I spoke to told me emphatically that I cannot add funds using that method, it must be done by bank transfer which takes 3 to 5 days. I told them that I had already managed previously to add funds the way I described and they told me I had just been lucky. I was then cut off!
So, that was definitely a short lived dip into the world of PayPal debit card for me as it’s downright dumb if you can’t add funds immediately using a method they offer as an option!
I don’t think you actually need to add money, When you use the PayPal card, it will pull the money from your linked account.
That’s an interesting concept, using contactless on a PayPal debit card with a zero balance on the actual debit card and your linked bank account suddenly overrides the fact you have no credit on the PayPal debit card and the transaction goes through without a hitch?
Is this actually a thing? Has anyone tried that? ![]()
