Algbra

Sounds like not all is well in the state of Algbra…

We wanted to give you an update about your account migration status and access to our Easy Bank Transfer services in the Algbra app.

Due to an unexpected change with our Easy Bank Transfer service provider, this service is currently unavailable for you if you joined Algbra after 22 July 2024, or if you’ve already migrated to an Algbra issued account.

Regular bank transfers to and from your new Algbra accounts are unaffected, so if your account has already migrated, you can still deposit, send and receive funds as normal. We want to reassure you that this does not affect payments like salary and benefits.

If you have migrated to an Algbra account already, you’ll see a notice in the app, letting you know that Easy Bank Transfer is currently unavailable.

For those of you who haven’t migrated yet, the issuance of your new Algbra account details has been delayed slightly, however we do aim to complete your migration as soon as possible. Until your account has migrated, you’ll still be able to use Easy Bank Transfer. Once the account migration is complete, our Easy Bank Transfer services will also be temporarily unavailable to you.

We are of course very sorry that we were not able to communicate this development to you in advance. We want to assure you that Easy Bank Transfer remains a core feature of the Algbra app, and our tech team are hard at work on a solution with a new provider. Testing is already underway, and while it may take a few weeks to roll this out, rest assured that we’re doing everything we can to bring Easy Bank Transfers back to you as fast as we can.

While your Algbra account remains fully functional, we know Easy Bank Transfers are a handy feature, so we do apologise for any inconvenience, and we truly appreciate your patience as we work to reimplement them to the Algbra app.

.

Translation: we haven’t a clue what we’re doing, but trust us anyway.

With the cashback gone, this is another reason to exit I think.

I have 1p in the account; all I have left from spending and it’s been so poor that I can’t be bothered to use it again.

I’ll keep it open just in case.

So today, I tried to remove my Algbra balance from a free to use supermarket ATM and despite having ATM cash withdrawals enabled in App, my withdrawal was declined.

I instead transferred the balance to another account without a problem. I’ve had enough with Algbra, I’m closing the account.

I also tried to remove my payees from the Algbra account but I can’t find the option to delete them. If anyone has any idea how to delete payees, I’d appreciate the pointer.

You can’t edit or delete payees. I have asked customer service about this since almost the beginning and they told me it can’t be done. They say it is something they are hoping to enable.

Thanks for clarifying that. I find it unbelievable that they would not permit payees to be deleted. It matters not, I’ve closed my account or at least I’ve requested closure.
