I’m guessing that it was sustainable until their backers realised that there was no chance of making any money with this approach
Closing my account. Unused since November 2023 and, with latest decision, unlikely to be used going forward.
Pre-paid card, so no point keeping open imo.
Best to keep it open, just locked and in the drawer for now. Not much use now, but you never know how it might develop and they might not let you open it again.
They’ve told me 12 months, if I change my mind.
It’s gone now.
(We’ve heard that phrase before though, haven’t we? )
Yeah, so did Chase. And Starling. Policies both have since reneged.
I inquired about reopening mine that I close a while back and was told it wasn’t possible so quite similar to Chase
Yup, hence why I said:
“We’re developing some exciting new features and enhancements to make your Algbra experience even better. Whilst we have no immediate plans to replace our rewards offering, we’ll be focusing our resources and efforts towards our core services, ensuring that our offering aligns with our ethical and sustainable principles”

Excellent news.
Hi, new user here.
I transferred £100 from my Lloyds account to Algbra just over an hour ago. Despite leaving Lloyds, it hasn’t reached Algbra, and I’m worried this is due to me not having noticed the change in account status (I’ve now ticked the updated T&Cs and the account is ‘on it’s way’).
Algbra’s chatbot was very quick to say that some users were experiencing delays due to a technical glitch and that it had been resolved, but surely that message would have been drafted before I made the transfer?
I’m now worried the £100 is in some sort of inaccessible limbo between old and new Algbra accounts Poor accountability from Algbra.
Faster payments can take up to two hours. I guess it is too early to get worried.
You will have your money
Still not received. I’ve been told that the glitch users have been experiencing continued until this evening and that any payments made to accounts with my sort code will be processed ‘in the coming hours’. That was at 7.15pm. I paid at 1.20pm and it is now 11pm. I’m not convinced.
Glad I ditched algbra by sound of this
It finally arrived at 2.20 this morning. 13 hours post-transfer.
The cashback function was very sporadic and gave every impression of being done manually from a spreadsheet.
I never did ditch my Algbra account and card. I received the emails about the account and card moving in house and today I had the email telling me that the account transfer is done and I have a new sort code and account number.
I deleted the old account details from my Chase account and created a new Algbra payee in my name and it was verified immediately. As I had no money on my Algbra account, I transferred some Dosh from Chase and the transfer took just a few seconds.
Might actually start using the card
Nice
I ditched.
