Algbra

There’s a post on the Monzo forum, there’s a few changes coming to an Algbra account near you, dormant account fee being one.

I certainly don’t miss having the account, I literally did nothing with it.

I picked up about a tenner from their early days.

Wonder how long before they exit like Zero did a week or so back?

Yes, I got the tenner too as did another forum member using a referral from myself.

It seems some Monzo members are already closing their Algbra account reading the thread over there.

Yeah, I’m one of those.

Shame really as it seemed so promising at the start, but then so did MyGuava and Zero.

I’m still miffed at HSBC for canning Zing. That was far better than some of the guff I’ve signed up to. Makes PayPal debit card look utter garbage. Had so many problems adding money to that card, I binned it off.

Yeah, quite liked Zing myself. And PayZ Plus. Five losses in a year seems quite a lot.

You didn’t need to add money to PayPal to use the card. It would’ve just pulled the money from your bank as required.

Things have to work the way we want, not how they are designed.

I mentioned this before in a previous post, PayPal offer a way of topping up the PayPal debit card instantaneously using a linked debit card from a linked bank account. My beef was, that top up method rarely worked and I challenged PayPal about this telling them there was little point then in offering that as a top up method. PayPal sent me a bizarre response stating it shouldn’t actually work anyway!

Some might find the issue a complete non issue, but I made a point of pointing it out and when PayPal bummed me off with a carp response, I just binned the card. I didn’t want the funds drawn from my bank account in the way you describe, I wanted that control of being able to top up my PayPal balance instantly and have the funds taken directly off the card. A top up by bank transfer would take up to 3 days, which also seemed pointless to me as well. Anyhow, we’re all different in the way we like to do things :+1:

I again told you how to have faster payments top ups from a linked account , which you didn’t want to try.

The debit card for Paypal has drawn from my Natwest and Lloyds cards too instantly with no issues.

The bank funds would take three days if you choose bank account as source, and that would be collected by dd later but your transaction would still be made immediately. You can have multiple Paypal dds paid out same day or even daily depending on how you use the account.

I am talking from experience, not trying to defend Paypal, and I am not affiliated to them in anyway.
