Chase UK Discussion

That’s it for me now. Far too many technical errors. I need to be able to rely on being able to access my money; Chase can’t offer that so they’re useless as a main account. I’d use it as a spending account, but it’s not worth the hassle of transferring money over from my main account. Add in the fact that there are better instant access savings rates elsewhere, there’s no reason to keep my account open. I’ve given it a go, but to borrow a phrase from Dragons’ Den - I’m out.

Oh dear! I’m assuming Chase have got some serious issues. I have lost access to my account too, same as above. That isn’t great at all :rage:

Me too, I can’t logon either.

Just now. R-

Interesting too that they block out the opportunity to reply (be critical of their services) on their Twitter announcement

I know it’s cold comfort, but at least they know now to tweet the fact. :flushed:

I remember their sign up process in September 2021 raising some red flags for me. I chose to duck out a month or so later.

I may have missed out on a two figure “rebate” - but I find cashback can incentivise spend anyway.

Glad to not be dealing with any outages, originally I was considering putting my salary in there as opposed to another fintech.

I can log in now. R-

My Roundups have transferred to my main account today.

Start again at £0.00

Will only be using the debit card until 28 Feb 2023 though, most likely.

I’ve received an email from Chase with a subject line “An update on our services” apologising for various issues.

I assume they are sending it to all customers…

Looks like it.

Got one too, used the brief availability period to transfer out my savings to a more stable bank.

Just so you know other banks do suffer with these issues too:

Lloyds app down

Barclays app down

HSBC app down

But do they have it as often and for as long as Chase?

I agree that these things keep happening for Chase but my point is other banks have them too. I don’t believe this will always be the way for Chase. I expect someone is in the dog house for this recent downtime, particularly if the CEO had to send a message out to every customer.

I recently saw on advert promoting Chase and how they are trusted by millions in the US. I wish they could just fix these problems and show people here in the UK they can be trusted too - actions speak louder than words.

That said, I’m glad Chase are here and I do believe things will improve and those jumping ship may just find the same issues elsewhere at some point or maybe they just have it in for Chase anyway and they’ll never be satisfied.

Stating the obvious here, but those are all legacy banks with online banking, telephone banking and actual branches. The app going down is poor, but little more than an inconvenience. Chase app going down means you’ve lost access to the bank account, entirely.

The sad reality for Chase is that it’s competing, not with Barclays/Lloyds/HSBC/NatWest but, with Monzo and Starling. I’m sure with time Chase will reach their levels of stability, but why should anyone rely on them in the meantime? I’ll keep my money/savings elsewhere and if Chase improve then I’ll reexamine accordingly.

The chase app is terrible…

As I said some have it in for Chase and have already made their mind up and that’s OK. Let’s see how they feel in 10 years…hopefully things will feel a lot different.

I think you’re trying too hard to defend one of the world’s biggest banks. Chase aren’t a little start up. They have vast amounts of money to throw at this, and I feel like they could’ve ensured that things work more smoothly.

They’ve been down more often than any bank, including little UK startups. It’s inexcusable given their resources, and I think people have every right to have lost trust in Chase.

It’s not “having it in” for them. It’s not wanting to put up with terrible service. Before you say I have it in for them, I don’t. I was really looking forward to Chase and was one of the first to sign up. I’d still like it to work out but I shan’t be touching them with a ten foot pole until they’ve had years of stability
