Well my relationship with Chase is taking a different path. I’m literally going from using Chase as my main everyday go to account, to returning to my Holts account. I rarely spend from the Chase account anymore. I’m not giving Chase up, I use it abroad for all of my spending, but the almost halving of the interest rates on my savings at the expense of giving newbies 5 percent, was too much, hence why I moved out my entire savings balance elsewhere.
I look forward to getting an email in a few months time offering me a savings boost…perhaps
In the meantime, I’ll give my eyeballs a rest from the almost Mig weld light emitted from their marvellous app
The phone call, I get but the fact the FoS didn’t throw anything to do with dark mode out, to me, is insane. Not to discount her experiences, but one cannot always wear a helmet.
I was more amazed that I was able to withdraw the maximum daily withdrawal limit over a couple of days from my Chase account without attracting a single message or intervention from Chase about why I won’t lie, I was bricking myself they’d flag my withdrawals but nothing, zip, zilch, so fair play, they ain’t that bothered
Chase has literally never cared for me, I’ve only been using it to withdraw from cashpoints in China for >1y now. Not small amounts either, like £100 a week(ish) most of the time to £1000 in 2-3 days every 3-4 months.
Looks like Chase have opened up their credit card to more customers. They’re offering me a large credit limit - 3 times that which NatWest have given me.
Not interested, though - I have enough credit as it is.
Well I’m not sure about anyone else, but my Chase account usage has shrivelled to virtually nothing. Ever since Chase threw me off their boosted savings rate which caused me to shift all my savings out to elsewhere, I’ve hardly used my account. It’s literally all now Wise or LHV for my personal spending. I won’t be ditching Chase, far to valuable to me when I’m abroad.
Mine is barely seeing use too. Using Zopa pretty much for everything. The cashback being gutted and UK only pretty much left me wanting nothing from Chase, although it’s decent for switching
So Chase has announced customers can now pay their credit card bill from another bank. Yippee, thought I…
It transpires that you may do so either as a one-off payment or as a regular payment in the manner of a standing order. So it’s fixed sums - not the account balance automatically as with a DD.
To me that’s odd, introducing friction to the process where none needs to be.
I suspect a year down the road they’ll adopt the DD arrangement…..
I pay these type of bills via future dated Faster Payment; it’s not really a big deal.
The physical card layout doesn’t seem quite aligned with the debit version plus the latter looks decidedly more premium with the design and silver Mastercard logo.
It kind of is though isn’t it. If you forget/go missing/slip in to a coma who is going to make those payments?
They have ACH automated deposits which achieve the same thing. The Chase UK system is completely Greenfield though AIUI, no lineage to their US cousin in terms of tech.
They also can’t change your monthly payment / bill date to one that suits yet either. Given it’s got the 15 months 0% I can let them off (with the understanding it’s a WIP) but I do prefer my bills to go out roughly the same day .
I’m assuming like most Chase account holders, Chase Protect Insure has popped into their App.
At £12.50 a month, it’s not a bad deal for some. Unfortunately, it is a bit lacking compared to Nationwide’s packaged account. Breakdown cover isn’t as comprehensive, they won’t send a breakdown patrol to your home, you have to be at least 400 metres from the front door. Then they’ll only take you to the nearest garage, not much kop if you’ve got a new car under warranty that needs taking to a dealership. I’ve had a car under warranty break down at home and the AA have subsequently recovered it to a dealership 60 miles away. Chase cover won’t do that.
Not really had chance to interrogate Chase travel insurance, but again, I get better vibes from Nationwide whose insurer is Aviva.
As for mobile phone insurance, never, ever had to use it.
So me and the Wife will be sticking with Nationwide at £18 a month because the benefits are better for us.
We’ve had accounts for 17 years, a full joint working account and I have a sole account and we’ve had no pay outs, so I have no idea why it is we don’t qualify.
