They have no logo for any of my transactions
Thanks. Got it too. Not many drastic changes though: Chase UK app 1.0.3 v267 teardown
Weird how they didn’t get Amazon right but did get WeChat Pay right
Amazon seem to have very stringent requirements for the rights around how you can use their logos, someone mentioned earlier that they were still getting permission to use it.
Don’t other apps utilise your card pin in these instances, for that third auth step/factor?
IE: something you have (card/phone), something you know (pin/passcode), something you are (biometrics).
Ideally a bank will use all three factors, but some only use two, and others are three-step whilst being two-factor (e.g. phone/card, passcode, and pin). Chase is weird here, in that theirs is two-factor, and two-step, albeit with three steps (phone/card, passcode, and passcode).
I can confirm that the physical card number is different to the one shown online bin number is the same and expiry date is the same as online which for me is 10/24 so assume they either reprogram the chip or send a new card out?
Ok, ok, I can already hear the cries of ‘You FOMO freak!’ being hurled my way, but, yes, I thought I’d give Chase a whirl
So, 7 days ago, I did ‘sign up’ and just about 1/2 an hour prior to penning this, I received my invite code. Well I took the plunge and went through the joining process. It took all of about 5 minutes as all of you who have already done so, know. No hitches whatsoever, easy peasy. I was a bit nervous as I’ve only lived in my new house for just over 3 months, but thankfully, at least one credit reference agency is showing me on the Electoral Roll and they clearly did a search for my name at my former address to verify my identity.
Obviously, I needed to put some money in the account. Reading the issues about transferring money from RBS, I instead transferred a not too shabby amount from my RBS account to my Starling account, and paid myself from Starling to get the balance up and running. The only fly in the ointment so to speak, was that Starling were unable to verify the Chase account named holder, but I clearly proceeded anyway.
Got slightly nervous when the money didn’t hit the account in nanoseconds, it took about 2 minutes for the transfer from Starling to Chase, but it went through ok and I now have a healthy credit in there.
The Chase App? Mmmm, not really impressed by it. It’s certainly not up to Starling standards by a long shot and I hope in the future, Chase will sort that out.
Just waiting for the card to arrive. It’s all set up in Apple Wallet.
One of my primary reasons for opening the account, is for when I actively start visiting the US again. If what is said is true about UK Chase account holders being allowed to withdraw fee free from Chase ATM’s in the US, then that’s a bit of a bonus. I’ll still always carry my Starling Debit card anyway.
I’m now thinking about popping a cap in my RBS account and CASS’ing to Nationwide. Might as well get the bribe!
I apologise to all for my thoroughly negative attitude in previous posts, but hey, sometimes, you just gotta go with the flow
“popping a cap”….!
You’re scaring me now, @Topsy2 ![]()
Is it just me or is anyone else getting repeat emails from chase that you have already received today all of a sudden?
The profusion of repeat emails is a tad irritating… I’ve had three of these. ![]()
Edit: sorry @JonasP - great minds ! ![]()
If you knew what I used to do for a living, you’d be right to be scared
Anyway, back on track. In the space of just the last 5 minutes, I too have received 3 of those bloody emails, all exactly the same. Grrrrrr
So - no shortage of “caps” then?
Only have those little bangers you get from the toy shops these days, you know, those things you chuck on the ground real hard and they make a little pop!
Anyway, stop distracting me! Do you find the Chase app a bit crap? or is it just me? Yes, already, I want dark mode and the ability to put a lovely photo of my ugly face in the little circle, just like I’ve done on my Starling account.
It is pretty basic and it doesn’t take long, as you’ve found, to see where you’d improve it. No DDs yet so it’s not fit to be the Full Chase.
Apart from that, the 1% cash back is nice and definitely starts to mount up (compared to c/a interest elsewhere).
The acid test will be in 12 months when they end the cash back sweetener….
I’ll have to set my default card to Chase on my Amazon account, otherwise I won’t earn much cashback.
You’re right, no d/d’s will be a killer for some but as I don’t have any d/d’s set up on my RBS account, it doesn’t matter much to me anyway. I’ve got a couple go out on my Starling account and the rest go out on Nationwide.
I wonder if my new Chase card will arrive all scratched up
I don’t get the scratched card thing. Not sure how that could have happened - mine is fine.
I’ve set it as default with Amazon and ApplePay to max the benefit. Easy to back out of if needs be down the road.
I’ll set it up on Tesco Pay+ as well, that’ll give a couple of pence.
I’ve had two of those today already
Tweeted Chase UK about the card quality and the repeated emails. “Emma” has acknowledged both and passed the issues on.
Card arrived today (account opened Saturday, so a bit lengthier delivery time than my high street banks when I’ve needed a replacement card, I’d say)! A few minor scratches and the lamination in one corner was peeling a teeny weeny bit, but nothing too major. Got to say the packaging was really nice.
