Chase UK Discussion

Na. Only thing there was the free gift card. No sign of anything else, despite telling them I was a customer from the get-go :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Have to say, this is pretty no-nonsense looking initiative from Chase.

Been seing quite a few Chase ads on amazon!

They’re advertising Barclays a lot too - namely in a place I’d never use them though.

Barclays is really ruining everything recently. Removal of Amazon instalments in favour of that + all their changes lmao

Amazon need to stop regression too

The Amazon-own instalments have been completely phased out in favour of this?!

Used them a few times. Will never touch this. PayPal credit seems to be Barclays biggest competitor in this space for checkout financing, and being a much better deal, you’d think they’d at least try to compete with Paypals offer. Though, somewhat moot in relation to Amazon seeing is they don’t, and probably never will, accept PayPal.

Pretty sure. I haven’t got offered any (I only really used it for phones and earbuds) despite that I always paid. Lots of people asking the same question I am on the reviews for Barclays finance w/ Amazon

Why would I want to take on searchable reported debt, at an interest rate for example with £100 of item

I’ve noticed that they don’t offer instalments anymore thought I just wasn’t eligible anymore

I’m still seeing them, e.g. on some Sony headphones.

Look again, I see them now but it’s via Barclays?

Personally, I think if they’re doing it. They should make it without credit checks and not as a loan. Should be something like Klarna without acceptance, because Amazon is about ease. I can’t tell you how salty I’d be if I got a credit marker saying I’m not ready for a loan over £100+ pounds of goods that were for vanity.

Looks the same to me. 5 monthly payments, no extra charges or need to sign up for anything else.
amazonmp

Don’t know if this has been brought up before now shows declined transactions in the app transactions feed

Mine has for a while.

Got one 10 December

Never did get to the bottom of why it was declined either :man_shrugging:

Weird. That’s been the standard for me for ages until a month or so. Maybe it’s A/B testing? They’re potentially seeing how much the feature is used or something when you use Barclays vs Amazon

Amazon probably wants to weigh up the risk of people not paying vs the amount they lose from people not wanting to pay interest to Barclays.

imo, Barclays should be aiming to make pence off of each order and to fund millions per year, rather than trying to milk people via hefty APR for this kind of payment. Or at the very least they should have a “pay in 3” equivalent.

Maybe frequency illusion?

The Amazon ones were always a bit hit and miss as to when you’d be offered, and on which products, determined by several different factors. As I understand the barclays one, it’s more widely available, and given it’s not (I presume) pre approved, you’ll see it advertised a lot, and prominently.

I’ve personally seen neither, but then I’ve not actually been looking for them, nor have I purchased anything lately that would warrant checking to see if such offers were available over just tapping the buy now button from muscle memory.
