Chase UK Discussion

I had a notification from Chase that I have a payment due tomorrow from my Bills account - I like this….

However, upon checking payments in the app as suggested there is no way to identify which DD this refers to (although I do know which it is) as all amounts are still zero and all DD’s are pending… hoping this is picked up on or it may change during the day before the payment goes out - we’ll see!

Hope so. I can feel a tweet to Chase coming on…

Good idea, I’ve just tweeted Chase support - with additional screen shot of Payments screen. I’ve blanked out companies for security

Good call.

They’re normally pretty quick in app as well and not so public.

My first DD is not until 1 April.

These just in from app support -
I really feel that these things should be right from the start - what sort of engineers and product design teams do they have working for them?

Well you’ve made it crystal clear. I suspect the CS response was about as good as one might expect, considering they’re not in any joined up with the developers.

There’s the rub. All it needs is someone snagging the process. They’d soon see the missing item.

Chase (and all other Chase customers) hereby thank you, @stevenje :relieved: Be interesting to see how long the fix takes.

Never saw that coming. As a uninformed observer, $12 billion sounds an eye-watering sum to spend on technology. No wonder the share-holders are asking for a little clarity. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

$12bn sounds more like a budget for the whole UK operation to me… possibly based on getting it to the point where it can stand on its own feet and return a profit.

More likely to represent their global spend on IT/technology

Yeah that’d make sense.

This chap mentions the threat of fintech & big tech. If that is part-reason for the huge planned investment, I wonder quite what the tech spend will be aimed at.

Is Chase so far behind that a chunk of it is to bring it up to snuff?

Is it to get ahead and build market share?

How much, I wonder, is aimed at the UK venture?

Interesting to hear the media’s reference to a crowded UK banking market.

Bit of a maverick, I reckon. Assuming Mr Dimon knows what the competition looks like here, I hope he sees a secure future for Chase UK.

I think you can read in to the fact they started from scratch with their UK infrastructure (rather than trying to do what Sabadell did with TSB) as a tacit admission that their legacy infrastructure is not future-fit.

Has anyone seen this?

I did, sadly I was a dullard and closed my chase account down too soon, they have a 12 month re-opening moratorium sadly otherwise I would join and sack “M**zo” right off for it.

Really interesting to see how the other two “challenger” banks differentiate this year, I doubt both will make it the next 12 months at the rate the other banks are going

Yep, just got it. Some savings shuffling now required.

Thankyou Chase

Well, for the first time in about 3 years, I’ve opened a savings account

Exceptionally easy to do in the Chase app, just moved a small pile into it from my wages account. I’ll move some more tomorrow because as things stand, I’ve got not a too shabby amount sat there doing absolutely nothing.

This is quite a move by Chase I think. If anything, it should attract an influx of new customers to a Chase account. Indeed, my Wife is now as I type, in the process of opening a Chase account. She’s known for ages I’ve had a Chase account but she is considerably richer than I :joy: and has not had a savings account for ages. This has been a bit of a nudge I think.
