Chase UK Discussion

I agree, much like their unexciting 1.5 percent savings account or cashback on the current account

I get your point though, and if they offered the type of rewards like they do with their U.S operation, then that would be a start.

Personally, I’m a long interest free fan, the longer the better. I’ve literally borrowed 1000’s in effectively interest free loans. Never paid a penny in interest in the last 20 years.

You’re not going to see anything like the 1.5-3% rewards available on US cards while the (EU but UK instigated) interchange cap is still in play.

Even as a loss leader 1% cashback would be significantly ahead of the market.

Unlikely since Amex have a long-term license to use the BA brand and Barclaycard have just launched a very decent Avios branded card.

To be fair, if you click on the All travel cards within the link, there is a Chase branded BA card there, whether it’s Avios related, I’m not sure, didn’t really look…

Yes, they hold the license for US/North American BA branded cards.

Just had the Chase UK survey, all about Shared Accounts.

1 person owns the account but lets others access it, spend from it via debit card, view it, etc.

Likely to be for sub accounts and savings not the main account.

Used to to be on Fintech Talk a bit so thought I’d join.

There was an article not long ago claiming that Chase UK was being used as a test bed for new banking technology, quick products updates and changes. If things worked well they’d roll this out among their main market (Chase USA)…

May be the UK Amazon credit card will now be offered by Chase since they are leaving NewDay?

Honestly I hope we ditch that piece of legislation, we’re not going to see massive price raises in response to increased interchange

I wrote to my MP about it, but I guess I should actually be sending a bell to the Minister for Brexit Opportunities, Rees-Mogg

If anyone here is likely to receive any form of reply from Rees-Mogg, surely it must be Lord Recchan  I mean, what’s the point of having a title if you’re not going to use it?

I think Lord Lucan has more chance

Has anyone noticed this for TFL transactions? Adding your card to TFL?

Yes. It’s because the card number of your actual debit card differs from the numbers Chase give you for online payments.

You need the actual hard-coded card number in order to see your PAYG usage with TfL (or any other PAYG transport service for that).

It is the same card number as I see in the app. I have compared the two numbers they are the same and same CVV

Same here.

The numbers are different here when I have used the physical card on TfL.

If I use Google Pay, then the numbers are the same

Then reason could be due to Apple Pay. I made the payment using Apple pay using the card details in the app.

I see Chase have just released another update to their app on iOS. I have no idea what they’ve done because I just can’t see what it is they have done, but I guess whatever it is, it must be beneficial

All I want out of Chase now is: Dark mode, an in house credit card, confirmation of payee and the ability to CASS without some pre-historic paper method. Cheque imaging would be a bonus for some I guess. Bring this little lot in and that’s Starling down the chute for me. I don’t need a whole bunch of fancy and in my case, utterly pointless budgeting tools because funny old thing, I know how to budget without the budgeting tools

I’d agree with that :point_up_2:
