General TSB Thread

Hmmm. Thanks to Amazon, I have now used the debit card 23 times this month, but no fiver as yet. Is there something that says it has to be more than £1 per use? I’ve ticked the other boxes i.e £500 in and two DDs going out.

Read the small print. Turns out that the fiver for this month will be paid on the 20th of next month. So, I will need to keep going till March 2024, and switch to the Plus version in April 2024 to keep getting the cashback.

This is for the £75 isn’t it

I got this month’s £5 on the 8th of September.

Yes, and you also need five debit card transactions per month for the £75.

This fiver is certainly being hard fought-for.

It’s a bit if a nuisance but all automated. Amazon daily top-up sorts out the 20+ debit card transactions, MoneyBox and Plum the DD requirement, so I just need to remember to put £500 in and leave £40 of that in each month. Adds to to £255 from TSB by March (including the Quidco £30 and Plum £10). It is the most complex one I’ve done this far.

I’ll be honest I’ve tapped out for the Nationwide £200. That way I’m up £135 from Tsb (I did two months), £200 from Nationwide in an month and I can stop morphing my monthly money.

If I hadn’t sorted out two cheap DD for it, I’d be out too but it also gets rid of Ulster as it’s sitting unused. That said, if Virgin comes soon, as I’m expecting, TSB is likely gone, at least if there’s more of a DD requirement.

The only places I could possibly be eligible post
nationwide would be virgin or metro.
If they don’t offer one up I’ll switch Nationwide into my main RBS account and call it quits for 2023. £525

Didn’t you get the £125 from Nationwide last time? Realised I did… so sad

I wonder if I did it, maybe they’d still pay out but I’m not sure if I want to test that

I don’t remember Virgin or Metro ever having switch offers.

All I’ve ever had from them is £50 in complaints money

Virgin offered a non cash bonus once & Metro have done refer a friend offers before

Virgin was £160 max last time but as a discount on your supermarket spend over several months. Have to get the calculator out to see if it’s worth doing if they repeat something similar.

Last year’s offer: Virgin Money bank switching offer: 25% cashback up to £160 + £35 on top - Be Clever With Your Cash

Count me in if this year’s one is similar

They’ve tried to tango before - to no avail - so I’ll wait and see if it finally happens…

I wonder how this potential acquisition could impact customers? If at all?

BBVA partially owns Atom Bank so other than attempting to merge it with TSB, not much.
TSB has been essentially for sale since (at least) their IT meltdown.

Yes, but they’ve turned down offers from Co-op, Nationwide and maybe others already.
