New HSBC App

I find Lloyd’s are hours after the event :man_shrugging:

I agree. Card notifications are instant but other transfers in or out are not.
I’ve messaged Nick Edwards, Lloyds Transformation Director on Twitter about this issue, but doubt I’ll get a reply.

Lloyds (and the rest of the group) still use “Smart Alerts” rather than notifications for everything.

It means you get notified for most things, but not everything, which is a shame. It would be much better if everything was notified.

HSBC are quite good as they seem to actually notify everything.

Yeah, my HSBC alerts (FP out, FP in) are pretty good tbh.

Don’t use the debit card, so cannot comment on that aspect of my android app.

Actually, Barclays notifications are instant for card and payments in and out of my account.
Just wish they would introduce an alert tone - I don’t get why most banks go with silent notifications.
Also, Barclays don’t use emojis on their alerts either - which is another bonus! The same goes for HSBC and Starling. Hopefully Chase will remove them in the future.

Yes, sorry I wasn’t clear - I meant Lloyds and the other banks in the Lloyds Group there!

You are, of course, correct that Barclays do have “fully working” notifications, like HSBC.

I’m sorry, what?! Why?!?!

Is that the time it takes for the new punch cards to be made and delivered?

Maybe have to do something manually on the old back end systems!! Mine seem to be working now it’s been a full 7 days since I switched them on and they are pretty much instant

I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by HSBC including the app.
Definitely still a work in progress but does all the core stuff I need it to.

Moved area and relegated Nationwide - no local branches plus their app doesn’t do cheque deposits nor do they even fully support the Post Office. HSBC support the latter two which covers most needs.

Does not publishing these not breach the T&C of using HSBC’s Customer Studio?

I’d guess so

Having set the new 6-digit PIN I can confirm that the app works fine on 2 devices using just Face ID for authentication.

I installed the app on my iPad, used my iPhone HSBC app to generate a QR code, scanned it with my iPad HSBC app and that was it.

Everything works, including push notifications on both devices when money goes in and out.

Great. How did you know this had been enabled?

I just went into the HSBC app one morning last week and it immediately started the new security flow for setting the new PIN. It mentioned on one of the screens that I could now use the app on up to 3 devices.

Same with me, I also got asked to set a PIN last week.

The one thing I don’t like is how they’ve slightly moved around the different elements of the logon screen for no apparent reason, so now my muscle memory of where the “Login with Face ID” button is doesn’t work!

Mine’s just been enabled, easy enough to be able to add a 2nd device though not sure why you have to log out to get the new QR code.

Because it’s part of Digital Secure Key which is accesssed via the login screen.

Have you had this thing where you log out of the app then go back to it later, only for it to tell you that your session has timed out so you’ve been logged out?

That happens quite often to me.

Once or twice, yes, although I tend to not leave the app in the background at all (I fully close it once I’m finished with it, as I don’t use it often and don’t like it cluttering up my multitasking view).
