Your post has just prompted me to do something I can’t actually abide doing, but I have anyway. I’ve just looked at TP reviews for Starling and selected the ‘Bad’ reviews. I then selected RBS ‘Bad’ reviews and finally Monzo ‘Bad’ reviews. Makes some interesting reading.

I like how the Barclays reviews are all just complaining about the Premier League
Personally, I think it’s partly down to fragmentation. I’ve had a current account, credit cards and various mortgages with natwest, so they basically know my financial life inside out. Revolut has only ever seen some of my petty-cash-level spending. It’s got to be much harder for Revolut to build a picture and correctly interpret eg a big transaction.
