I believe @Recchan didn’t get a confirmation email but was still contacted today for more info like most of us.
They’ll send the link via text as well.

That’s good to know – a bit concerning though as there was no confirmation screen to check all my details so I hope I didn’t make a typo
Odd that there’s such an inconsistency
Haven’t opened an account in ages so maybe I’m being a bit twitchy
It was a very a weird process, but I just take it that it’s because it’s such an antiquated application form that feels decades old.
Eyy, email’s here!
This is to try to match up what you say on the form to your credit file; as it’s stuff only you could know it is a method of checking your identity.
Don’t worry about it - it’s quite normal.
I’ve seen the types of question but it asked if I have another bank account, not how many. So I just provided the oldest account’s details… I guess back then many accounts weren’t the standard
You did the right thing, yes just provide the oldest account.
Many accounts probably were more rare and most people opening a new account would probably have been switching from their old one.
What would one do if they were less savvy and didn’t remember because it was 10 years ago? Just in general if such a question comes up – but that’s taking this off topic
I just chose my monzo account for this. Not my oldest, but it shows me in app when I signed up.
Probably should have gone with my Barclays if oldest was best. Can check that from my credit file I believe.
You can look at your own credit report and see the date accounts were opened.
That’s what I’d do anyway, as @anon62610374 says.
I guess FOMO caused me to jump on this bandwagon too else I’ll be the only Fintech Forum reader that didn’t have a Childs & Co bank account!
I entered my Starling Bank opening date when asked for the details of an existing current account. They obviously found me with the CRA and matched the Starling overdraft too. Application done, but haven’t received an email confirming anything as yet.
Some banks ask if the new account is to be your main or a secondary account. I have over a dozen current accounts, but always give my Nationwide opening date as it’s the oldest.
They take the application page down for maintenance every night if I’m not much mistaken. I tried it Monday 11pm-ish and got the same message, but Tuesday evening it worked
As even the old one goes down, does it mean they’re aware of its existence still?
So it is… thank you. I am on my way to private banking
This is the biggest exclusive club in the world
Surely you mean the most inclusive exclusive club?
That’s probably the most accurate
God damn this is annoying, I want in but in the middle of something financially so can’t justify the hard search
