Well, in this case closure happens before the account has ever been used - so no money is in it!

Gold star service there, ensuring you don’t get left without your money.

I 100% believe that we have caused the biggest internal investigation in RBS seen for years

That is what the advisor in the fraud notification team said the notes on the account say and that the decision is final

One of the islands! :joy:

Yeah, that’s the thing. I was under the distinct impression that applications were manually reviewed and approved by a human with the old form. The weird thing though, as the account being closed for @JonasP came after that process had completed. That’s the concerning thing atm.

Just wondering if my account will be closed any days now.

Always nice to stop off at the CIFAS Duty Free gift shop

Bigger than the investigation into Fred the Shred, ABN Amro and the near-collapse of the bank!

Yeah I guess it could be ‘oh this person lives ages away from their selected branch, I’ll flag it for team X to look at but otherwise the application looks ok so it can proceed’, and then when team X looks at it and decides they don’t like that, the application has moved on and past account opening.

It would make sense to pause the application if anything needs to be flagged, but I guess if a large percentage of things flagged to team X end up being okay they might have made the decision to not hold up applications that will more than likely still go through.

The really weird thing is that @JonasP managed to get the closure reversed, but then the reversal was also reversed.

Tell me about it. They are sending a letter out in the post so when it arrives I’ll share it with you if it is anything relevant

Is it uno that has reverse cards? Can’t believe one reversal got reversed, maybe now he can get a reversal of the reversal of the initial reversal ?

I don’t want to even dispute it and risk any trouble especially if they are really pissed off I don’t want to struggle getting bank products in the future.

I got the card. That was the mission

Is it possible for me to end up with cifas marker?

You can get a CIFAs marker via doing literally nothing, to be fair

It’s very, very unlikely that you’d get one regularly or even doing something like this though, imo

Probs not

Hope we don’t all end up closed and CIFAs markers.

I’ll see what this letter says. I imagine it’s just going to be a basic decline letter with credit ref agency crap on it. Who knows

To clarify things here and offer peace of mind to folks worrying. There is absolutely no reason that your account being closed for misconduct to result in CIFAS marker. That won’t happen. You’ve not committed fraud, nor acted illegally here, so that’s not something to worry about.

The comments above that folks have made about CIFAS were tongue in cheek and said in jest.

I just received an email containing my customer number for digital banking!

I think everyone is worrying too much about nothing. I don’t recall seeing anywhere where it stated that the branch had to be within a certain radius of your home address, they may not like it and may close your account but I don’t think anything more than that would happen.

Besides, if they are bothered, they still haven’t learnt their lesson as I was approved just now. I just received a text that said:

Thank you for submitting your documents through DigiDocs.Your Royal Bank of Scotland Personal Current Account has been approved and will be available to you within the next working day.

Also received an email too
