Royal Bank of Scotland accounts

@anon62610374 – Thanks for the info. At least it’s just not me then! I have taken the link off my post, no problem and totally understand. So far, still haven’t heard anything whatsoever.

Not sure, whether to leave it a couple off days and try again. Perhaps I shall do that.

Thanks for the feedback.

It may be that they will send you a letter or email, as I think that’s happened to some.

If it’s an email, they will likely ask you to upload proof of ID via DigiDocs. I would wait at least a week for that to arrive as some people have experienced it taking a while.

Thanks @Seb

Like you said, I think I’ll wait.

Well, little after 24 hours I received an email / text relating to Proof of ID and E-Signature via their DigiDocs portal. Completed this, and received an email / text less than 24 hours saying my application has been approved.

So I guess I just wait for things to pop through the front door, i.e. card.

I ask myself, did I really need yet another bank account – I then confirmed that I didn’t “need” it, just “wanted” it…!

Looking through this thread, I see a lot of folks wanting to change the account type to some kind of rewards account? Can this be done without switching brands?

Thanks all.

You may get a welcome and a few texts to say your card is on the way between now and then.

I believe so, but I think the consensus is it’s best to wait a while before doing that just to be safe. @Seb clarified it a bit better earlier in the thread, I’ll try to find it!

Edit: here’s seb’s post on this

Glad you managed to get an account! Enjoy the card!

@anon62610374 – Thanks for all the info there. Much appreciated, I did try to go through this thread but I think I must have missed a lot of the details.

Long thread above.
So I got the card but online banking is restricted until a card reader comes in the post.
Mobile banking is blocked as well :frowning:
Although I should be thankful they agreed to the account given I live in the North West of England.

??? Never had an issue with this

If you got a card reader from any other bank you can use that to remove the restrictions.

Besides HSBC, who use something different AFAIK

They use a TOTP generator which was traditionally in the form of a little calculator-looking device, but is now built into their mobile app. No card is required.

Thanks sorted.
It just mentioned in the message I had to wait for there card reader.
It’s worked so that’s great.

Yes, although you still have the option of using the old-fashioned calculator-type code generator if you don’t have a smartphone or want their app.

I’ve successfully opened the Child&Co account a week ago and received the Child&Co card, however they sent me a regular RBS cheque book… Do you know any reason for that and if I should mention it to them? I’m a bit worried to push my luck as really don’t want the account to get closed for any reason…

That is a paying in book!

A chequebook is Child & Co branded, with a few branded paying in slips at the back.

A paying in book (sometimes called a credit book) is always RBS branded as they don’t do a Child & Co version.

You are absolutely right, my mistake. I was just so disappointed I didn’t check it properly. Fingers crossed they will send the Child & Co branded chequebook. Thanks for the quick help.

I’m sure they will - your paying-in book does show “Child & Co Bankers, Fleet Street” where the branch address appears so you do have an account at the “right place”!

If it helps offer you any reassurance, my paying in book arrived a few days before the chequebook. So if you ordered both at the same time, you should receive the chequebook in a few days!

Meanwhile I received two chequebooks thanks to someone ordering me two by accident, thankfully eh, at least they don’t cancel each other out. Note that I received the paying in slips still

Do all RBS/NatWest statements look like they came off one of those old dot-matrix impact printers? It’s square shaped and has tear marks along the bottom and top
