Yes, even if they do sometimes slap the Child & Co logo on, everything is a rehash of generic RBS material.
The paperless statements thing is a group-wide environmental initiative, that’s all. Basically, anybody who is registered for and actively uses Digital Banking but has paperless statements on will experience it. Once you change it back, they don’t seem to force you off paper again (but they do sometimes email you to encourage a switch).
What sort of things do people do in branches these days? I’m in London tomorrow and want to visit my branch while I still can – just not sure what reason to go for
A few things people do, which could be good ideas:
Pay in or withdraw cash
Pay in a cheque
Open a new account
Close an account
Order a chequebook
Order a paying-in book
Ask for help with online or telephone banking
Ask for financial advice
You could also ask what is happening to the Child & Co brand and report back to us!
Your list is just about my worst nightmare! The thought of even stepping into ye olde branch network, quite literally wants to make me vomit! And the thought of standing there in a queue with other human beings
Yes, I intend to ask about the brand! Most of those things I can’t do – I don’t have any reasons to close an account or open one, and don’t have any cash or cheques to pay in. I think I’ll ask for a certified statement
You could withdraw some money from the cash machine outside then go into the branch and pay it back in. Normally that would be pointless, but it would give you an excuse to go inside.
Just curious how I’ll be perceived when I turn up at a posh branch clutching £50 in tenners asking to pay in; or asking about a certified statement and them seeing I put about £25 through the account a month!
Sorry all for the late reply, when I got home I was preoccupied with some other stuff yesterday. I didn’t learn much sadly, apart from the fact that the branch is F A N C Y
The place is also plastered with the “This branch is closing” signs so I expect the branch is, indeed, closing and it’s not just the poor being booted out
They had someone inside by the door to direct you – but that’s been standard in every bank branch everywhere in the last 5 years in my experience
I liked the exhibits they had – I wonder where they’ll go once the branch closes. Unless the building will remain RBS, but only for the wealthiest of their clients, by appointment only?
