Going to try one last time before they run out of Child & Co cards

Good luck! Let us know which debit card you receive.

Before they run out? Thought they confirmed the brand isn’t being retired?

They said they’re closing the branch. Nothing about the brand, yet… as far as I am aware anyway.

They’ve said they’re retaining the brand, but we don’t know whether this means they’re retaining it for everybody, or just for the genuine private banking customers.

The question is whether the hoi polloi will still receive a Child & Co debit card, or whether they will now be downgraded to an RBS one.

I got a statement yesterday with no changes to it at all - they are even still using the old address at the moment.

Whether that’s a bad sign or not, I’m not sure. I’m not reading anything into it at this stage, although if changes happen it’s likely to be after all the other RBS branches in England* close.

*except Drummonds and Holt’s

I will be sure to report back if they open my account and send a card

It may or may not be relevant, but my Child & Co card came through about three weeks ago.

Edit: and within 4 days of application.

Sounds promising!

The Child & Co statements have the Fleet St address preprinted on them, so I wouldn’t read too much much into it.

They probably won’t do much until the replacement branch (Victoria) closes in October 2022.

Got the email saying my account is approved and being opened. Let’s see what card comes in the post.

Behold, a Child and Co card turned up just now. Only valid for 2 years though.

Nice! I doubt it’ll reach that expiry, Natwest have already started replacing Visa cards enmasse ahead of expiration. Just a matter of when they decide to pull the plug (and what card design that leaves us with…)!

Tbh, I’m not really bothered now I’ve got the card in the collection

We are safe boys (and girls), the brand is staying

If anything they’re strengthening the brand, apparently the letter now comes on own letterhead rather than RBS Premier

Wow, they’ve even kept the card minimalist!

It’s a shame they’ve switched colours from blue to black though, I really liked the dark blue personally.

The dark blue with the gradient was really lovely, but I quite like this darker hue too. I wonder when I’ll get mine

I assume we will all get replacements when our cards expire (if it is one of recently issued under-two-year expiry dates) and then a mop-up reissue for any still not expired around the end of next year - but possibly earlier too.

@WillPS was referencing a reissue for NatWest customers already having started, but I believe that was NatWest Premier only (so far).

I know both NatWest and RBS said they will be reissuing all active cards this summer so I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t wait for the cards to all expire. Mine is valid till 25, so I hope I won’t have to wait that long!

I think they started the reissue early this summer (seemingly with Premier accounts, although not special premier accounts like Child & Co, just “normal” ones) but I have no idea when they will finish it!

I still have several Visa cards at NatWest, RBS and Ulster Bank.
