Switch Bonus

If you haven’t had one from RBS and/or Ulster Bank, you might fancy chancing your arm at another. By the terms you wouldn’t be eligible but in the past they have not enforced the ‘groupwide lockout’, meaning you can have it once from each. (No right to complain if it doesn’t work out tho)

The last switch offer around October 2023 didn’t work for me as I tried to pull this off via RBS.
Though they may give it a go.

Have you not had an RBS bonus before?

Last time I had one, I had NatWest and Ulster. I think they were all offering £200.

The time before that, RBS. I think, anyways.

Thinking about the Lloyds one, seems the last account I had was in 2022, but I think I switched out to NatWest or something to get the bonus since Lloyds didn’t pay out.

I had had from both RBS and Natwest before then I saw people on Reddit claiming they had another round that paid out. I was the unlucky one not to get again.

I have received the TSB £75 switch and stay bonus. Tie to move on now

That one was painful to get. If it hadn’t been for that I might have considered staying with them but they make It too difficult. I’d have gone for their Plus account but keeping the daily Amazon top-up going to meet the 20 debit card transactions a month is just a nuisance. I barely use a debit card normally.

Course, it could be worse e.g. the current HSBC offer. At least TSB netted me £260 Vs £220 for HSBC.

For the TSB debit card spend I do 20 £1 payments to my credit card. Takes only a few minutes as the card is saved within the credit card online account and the TSB app is pretty good for authorising the payments.

I was doing the £1/day Amazon top-up which works but messes up my Amazon previous orders. Basicallyan account that is expecting that you’ll use a debit card that often isn’t for me.

It had no effect on my side. My Curve card was still set as default and was still used for subscriptions and express check out.
Only gift card top ups were the ones coming from TSB.

I’ve It setup that way too but when I look for a previous order all the real orders are swamped by the daily top-up ones.

Search option sorts that

I know, but it looks messy.

It doesn’t bother me, I tend to keep a healthy gift card balance (thanks again for the 20% off tip @user123 !) so it doesn’t matter which card is default.

What’s the 20% deal?

Complete Savings
Buy a One4all digital gift card (which works as a Contactless Visa)
Exchange at one of the retailers who accept and sell Amazon gift cards

Repeat monthly

How does that get you 20% off?

You get 20% off the One4all gift cards. Max £100/month face value.

Any examples of these? This is a game I want to give a try

WHSmith has been my go to. There are others - just keep an eye out for high street retailers selling Amazon gift cards (or cards which can be in turn exchanged for Amazon giftcards) and see if they support One4all digital/contactless/app.
