Algbra

You’re very much echoing my reservations today, (notwithstanding the missing cashback). :flushed:

It is for this very reason I gave up on using their card.

I do think it’s more hassle than it’s worth - I wish it was just a tab in the Revolut app :joy:

For those still using the Algbra card - an important upcoming development.

“Our 1% offer is ending on 23rd of October and we’re extending our 1.5% offer”.

My earlier stated problem (further up :point_up_2:t3:) about non-receipt of cashback is explained by my using Curve and Algbra together.

“This does mean that if you use your Curve card for transactions after this date, you won’t receive cashback from Algbra.”

Creek & paddle spring to mind….:smirk:

I stopped using algbra through Curve on the day I could add it to Google Pay directly.

algbra currently superseded by my Barclays 5% cashback promo and my Monzo 2% supermarket promo.

Chase, meanwhile, just sits and watches, having just dumped the contents of my Round-Ups account into my “DD Budget” savings accounts.

You should have got the 1% cashback from Algbra when using with Curve, but not 1.5% as that is only for google/apple pay.

Yes indeed. I didn’t at the time, get that using Curve with Algbra underlying wouldn’t amount to Algbra being regarded as ApplePay.

I do now :smirk:

Well that makes it nice and easy. Chase when I need to use the card and Algbra for Apple Pay.

Quite so. :relieved:

Interestingly, Algbra offered me a free £5 if I used Apple Pay. I did use it, I never got the free fiver :unamused:

As for the card itself, I’ve used it less than half a dozen times in the last four weeks, mainly I should say because I’ve literally spent sod all on anything  But that aside, I’m now starting to feel the card might get slung in a draw and forgotten about.

That’s where my card went as soon as I got it.

Initially, my purchases were Google Pay through Curve, and now Google Pay direct. Never carry that card on me :person_shrugging:

To be fair, I got a free tenner as a referral from them and I’ve had almost £14 in cashback in the relatively short time I’ve had the card. I’ll likely use it next time I go abroad but in the meantime, it’ll probably get little use.

I have at least six cards ahead of algbra for spending abroad, so mine won’t see light of day tbh (should I ever venture again - seems ages since 2022)

I was £50 up but with the normal cashback going I dropped it - I don’t like being channeled down using Apple Pay not via Curve etc. I use go back in time a lot to move credit card payments and get cashback.

£50 and out of the race.

Why even request a physical one then?

Algbra gave you the option at sign up to pick between virtual, physical, or both, as part of an effort to reduce unnecessary waste and emissions that are involved in producing and delivering that card you’re never going to need.

I had to order one to get the referral bonus - no idea why they made that a requirement tbh - seemed totally contradictory along with the plastic qr code that came with it

Re: Curve, the 1.5% trumps Curve’s 1% cashback for 3 retailers so I’m sticking with them (after some in-depth CS chats).

As others say, there’s always Chase as the 1% backup if I hit the limit and as that amounts to £1500 of spend, it shouldn’t be an issue.

For my collection

They don’t get thrown away. Got them going back decades.

Oh, and of course, when they launched, there was no way to make a purchase in a shop without a physical card as no Google Pay compatability. Unless you were a Curve customer.

Oh, of course! :see_no_evil:

I’m pretty sure just selecting the virtual card fulfilled the requirement of ordering a card
