Nope. I didn’t get one when I CASS’ed my RBS account to them and a very healthy balance was transferred into the FD account. I have no idea why and I didn’t bother asking them. I only opened the FD account to fleece them for the £150. I haven’t used it since they paid me the bonus. I’ll be closing it soon, probably to CASS to another bank kind enough to give away free money.
So, had a bit of a bum clenching 45 minutes this morning. I transferred my monthly personal allowance from my Starling account to Chase and it did take a full 45 minutes for the transfer to happen. I’m not going to lie, I found that properly disappointing, especially when I transferred another not insignificant sum to my Nationwide account at the same time and that transfer was instantaneous.
Going to make my first transfer out of Chase later (holiday savings from Chase to Starling too)
Let’s see how this goes… fingers crossed
Mine from Monzo to chase was pretty quick, as normal. Inside 60s anyway.
Yeah, I’m not sure what the game was this morning. I have had delays before, but only a couple of minutes. This morning quite frankly, extracted the urine.
15 mins… not too bad.
But still pitiful compared with the Starling to Nationwide, about 15 seconds
Starling to Chase, 05:22 today, instant ![]()
Statements are accessible now.
Think i"m a bit spoiled. I’ve only ever used Monzo so anytime a transaction takes >1 second I worry I got the details wrong or it’s just lost in the aether ![]()
I never worry about a transaction I transfer to my own account.
Transfers to other people come from my Lloyds or Halifax accounts.
So Chase is not yet about to bother me since my transfers from Lloyds to them have still never delayed (all £200 and below
)
Chase have just held up a transfer to my Zopa account “for security checks”
This is an account I have transferred to several times before.
Transaction value: £40 - Yes, FORTY pounds.
Not worried, to the contrary, am finding it quite funny atm ![]()
Update: All good ![]()
Chase are not doing well here are they.
It went through after about 30 minutes, so not complaining.
It does make you wonder about their algorithms though.
What was worse, for me, was depositing that cash in to my 31 day boosted pot, and then realising I could have thrown it in my Tandem, instant access, for the same rate ![]()
Thing is, the interest rate was not why I moved it, as literally pence on that sum, it was just a way of showing to myself how much I spend on a certain thing, by not spending it, and throwing it into a pot instead.
In this instance, I chose to save the £40 I would have spent on a Villa v Everton ticket, had there not been a rail strike the same day. If I do this for all the games I don’t make, I may have a nice sum come end of the season.
And of course, no 1% cashback from Chase for me post 23-Sep ![]()
I think they were not quite prepared for how strict UK banking is so they are being over precautions. I think their algorithms are not as advanced as Monzo and the likes so these teething issues may be around for a while until their system learns the patterns of your spend.
I imagine if you used chase as your main account the algorithm would learn faster but is it worth the risk haha
For the first time my Chase account balance went into negatives. I saw a notification telling me to urgently put about £45 into my account.
Only to log in and find that some of the transactions at one of the restaurants I went to on December 14th 2021 while abroad have just been charged. Really weird. Do pre-authorisations last that long?
What would happen if the charge was attempted when I had long left chase?
That’s really strange. I’d raise that with Customer Service. Pre authorisation is only 7 days.
Merchants don’t need a pre-authorisation to capture funds from a payment card for a valid charge (but it helps).
We are used to transactions being processed immediately nowadays but every other month I see some local rag publishing a story about ‘outrage’ as a supermarket or restaurant ‘plunges customers in the red’ unexpectedly or some drivel. It happens.
So long as the charge is valid and not a duplicate, one to chalk up to experience.
They were of no help.
This is what they said.
I understand. please note that, posting of payments are beyond our control. That will still depend with the merchant on how soon they will settle the funds using their “Point Of Sale” system. Since this was processed using the merchant’s payment system and not thru us , what I can suggest is for you to contact the merchant.
I have to say that is a very long time to wait for a charge to be taken. However, at least you know what it is and it’s valid. Before now, you might have even thought the restaurant forgot to charge you and you’d got a free meal.
