Chase UK Discussion

Mine’s been dormant with £1 in it for months. There are better easy access savings rates available than Chase, too.

I use my Chase account for all of my everyday personal spends because it does what my Starling and Nationwide personal accounts don’t do, it gives me the 1percent cashback.

I get it that their are other easy access savings accounts out there currently paying more, but I just can’t be bothered chasing after the odd point 3 or 4 percent above what I’m earning in Chase. Some of you who frequent this forum, are clearly quite wealthy individuals judging by the snippets of info you leak out and I guess some of you spend a considerable amount of time maximising your wealth by constantly chasing and moving your cash around. If I ever reach that stage in my life, I’ll happily put the effort in.

As stated on the other forum. Day to day spending whilst making use of the rewards. R-

Can assure you that no amount of interest rate increases will ever lead to a wealth gain. Interest rates are below inflation, at the very most it’s a small hedge against a declining stock market

An interesting assertion……

A statement of the obvious, if you understand what people mean when they talk about wealth. They don’t mean “in real terms, it loses value”.

Definitely

I would think that “wealth” means a variety of different things depending on the individual.

I have been using chase for most things I don’t use my credit for. I just wish the app was smoother. Considered pivoting back to starling now they offer VC’s for free and it’s a more stable app.

To be honest, I’ve had few problems with the Chase app these last few weeks and the notifications are now almost instant for most purchases. Chase clearly have much more work to do with the app but it’s more than tolerable imo. As far as I understand it, aren’t the new virtual cards from Starling only linked to Spaces? I don’t use Spaces for anything in Starling because for me, they’re pointless.

Yeah. I use Kroo for my recurring card payments. I’d prefer to have all bill types from one account.

I wish Chase offered virtual cards :credit_card:

I don’t have any additional accounts with Chase. Are extra accounts held with Chase tied directly to one’s primary account or do they have virtual cards?

No VCs - you have to switch your debit card between your Chase accounts in the app to spend from them.

This is what it does best

Should something bigger be expected?

What is more surprising is that Chase card has reviews on Amazon. How?
Are they giving us the new “Amazon card” ?

Pretty frustrating they’re not allowing those who closed their accounts to reopen them at this time. Would’ve liked to give them another try, but oh well.

To be fair to Chase, and this is going to read as harsh, but I’m completely in support of their decision on not allowing those former customers who dumped them at an early stage, to rejoin. I fully understand the reasons why people dump banks, either because the bank itself was a massive disappointment or wasn’t the slick machine they thought they might be, or their customer service was crap etc. And as for customer service, who are these people who seemingly find it somehow necessary to contact their bank week in, week out?

I’ve dumped 5 U.K banks in the last 7 years because of cash bribe switching. Two of those banks were utter garbage anyway in my humble opinion. What I absolutely expect though, is that at least 3 of those banks would bar me from rejoining for at least 3 years because quite frankly, I took them for a ride, I was only interested in the free cash they gave me.

As far as Chase is concerned, well yes, they may well be one of the biggest banks in the U.S, but not yet here in the U.K. Essentially, they’re still finding their feet here. Apart from the odd downtime service glitch they’ve suffered, I can honestly say. I’ve got no real problem with them. I have had literally no customer service interaction withe them in the 12 months I’ve been a customer. I’ve currently got much of my savings with them and I like the cashback, however long it may last.

So if Chase decide to effectively bar former customers from rejoining because the former customer threw a hissy fit due to various reasons that weren’t quite to their liking, then that’s a business decision by Chase that I personally fully respect, especially if they introduce further incentives down the line which are extremely competitive. And of course if I myself decided to dump them as a banking provider, I’d fully expect Chase to tell me to go away and not darken their door again. As it currently stands, I’ve no intention of chucking the towel in with Chase for the foreseeable and I genuinely wish the bank the best of success here.

I thought it was 12 months - same as Starling?

No, it’s forever currently AFAIK
