Chase UK Discussion

Does that mean £500 needs to be paid in just the once ,taken out, and recycled ?

Or deposits totalling £500 or more over the month.

Same as other banks.

Money doesn’t need to stay in there either.

I’ve just amended my SO to go to current account first, instead of direct to savings account.

Simples

Just set up a SO for £500 from somewhere and then a reciprocal one from Chase. That’s it.

Personally, I have today, submitted a change of bank details to my employer to have my salary paid into my Chase account with effect from the end of the month. Chase offerings are rendering Starling an irrelevance to me.

Chase is definitely doing the rewarding banking thing better than anyone else currently

Not sure how long it’ll last, but hopefully they’ll gain just enough market share to want to expand without gaining enough to sit on their laurels

Are different people getting different offers from Chase? I hardly ever use my account and I’ve got an email explaining that I can get the 1% cashback and also the 1% interest on the account balance.

However, my friend, who uses his account a lot, has had an email offering him the 1% interest only. There’s no mention of any cashback in the email they’ve sent him.

When did they take out the account? My husband, who joined Chase several months after me, is still in his first 12 months of cashback, so got the email about the current account interest but nothing about the cashback changes because they won’t apply to him for a few months.

Definitely this. My partners current Cashback offer doesn’t end til end of October this year so they have only been told about interest on current accounts.

From the comms point of view, there are those who might think that unifying the benefits package, regardless of onboarding date, would simplify things with no down side.

After all, early adopters are unlikely to get the strop over newer arrivals getting what’s coming at the same time as them.

I agree with everything there. It would of been better for them to unify it and then do a email to those still on the og cashback to explain how they will service the remainder of the offer maybe

Maybe, but then people will complain about having to pay £500 in for the remainder of the initial 12 months. No one is losing out by doing it this way and most will be completely unaware of what existing customers are getting.

True. There’s no right or wrong here. I think for most it won’t be that big of a hassle. For those using it just as a spending account may disagree.

Not sure why, given they can immediately withdraw it.

Other banks have much higher requirements.

Lloyd’s, for example, are increasing their minimum deposit, to avoid £3 monthly fee on their Club Lloyd’s account, to a whopping £2,000pm.

I recycle money weekly between them and Halifax (£1,500pm) for this purpose, so minor tweak needed for me. Good job really as my income is less than £2k pm.

My Barclays account requires £800pm

My old Santander 123 Lite used to be £500pm, but that went in 2021 for a switch bonus

Not sure what your point is? I was referring to why Chase may not want to alter the conditions for the initial 12 month cashback, instead of just applying it to everyone.

They probably do not want to scare aware new customers who just wanna try it out. Even with this 1% cash back many customers are not bothered to use Chase. Some open accounts just to see what goes on in there. My partner for example has an account that she never bothers to use. I have work mates who use it once in a while, with spending far less than £400 a month. I guess such people would be put off if there was an additional “pressure” to push in £500 a month.

I’m really looking forward to all of these. The credit reporting is already done

Has it already appeared on your report?

No. Was told it will be on CreditKarma next month

My interest has certainly been revived now.
