I think those of use who frequent these places and signed up the second it was shared should all be among the first to be receiving them. Hopefully.
I managed to scrape a C in O-Level English Language but a B in English Literature, oddly enough (despite having only read the Cliffs Notes and not the actual books themselves).
I went onto there website last night around 11:30ish to join the list, hopefully don’t have to wait to long for the code
You are one of those! Unforgivable!
Me too, I think lots of us did!
I don’t think they actually have, as some of us signed up to the waitlist the minute it was available and nobody has posted yet to say they have got a code.
They may not be sending them out in chronological order - could just be random batches.
Despite my meh-ness, I’ve joined the waiting list just to have a play with it, seeing as it’s only a soft search. I’ll let you know if I get an invite before you night owls
Don’t you guys sleep?
Haha, I’m a geek when it comes to banking
And Marcus have done really well so not sure what your point is
Just that you said:
They’re the first major new player in the UK market with big ambitions, but this time with a balance sheet to boot.
And could count Marcus for one as being in a similar position - so Chase is not first.
Maybe the first people to get codes are the employees that weren’t signed up to the trial
Hi everyone, hope you’re all well!
I’m just taking a quick break from my social media/forum hiatus to check in on what everyone’s saying about Chase finally (kind of) launching. I know some are perhaps a little underwhelmed, but I must say the ability to instantly generate up to 20 current accounts, each with their own account number and sort code and linked virtual card (concrete confirmation on the latter would be good) is imo absolutely bloody awesome! It’s like pots/goals on mega-steroids, and is what I was hoping for when Anne hinted at something better than allowing bill payments from goals (…but instead we simply got the highly disappointing option to pay for one extra current account). I see Monzo added the ability to make card payments from pots very recently, but since their virtual cards are paywalled it’s only available to Plus/Premium subscribers, and is restricted by the 5 virtual card limit.
Plus… that card Sleek, modern, and fintech-y but without looking like it belongs in a children’s play cash register. And numberless with details that can be regenerated in app!!! That’s a huge deal to finally have in the UK market; I’ve posted on here before my envy at Santander Mexico’s one.
I see (or rather hear) they’ve gone with David Tennant to voiceover their first ad. A good choice for a foreign brand looking to introduce themselves to the British market, considering how recognisable his gentle Scottish accent is:

I’m curious what the debit card will end up looking like… on their website there are two designs, one with the cardholder name on the left and a rather lovely silver Mastercard logo on the front and another with the MC logo on the back and the cardholder name aligned right. Interestingly, in the advert linked above you can see both different designs shown as physical cards, with the one with the MC logo on the front at 0:07 and the more minimalist design at 0:09. I guess we’ll just have to wait until they start sending them out to see! I got on the waiting list yesterday morning so hopefully not too much longer to wait! See you all soon
Edit: just wanted to also say that having 24/7 UK phone customer service that is actually helpful and responsive is extremely reassuring for me should something dreadful happen (and that’s coming from someone who swears by live chat whenever possible!), and is a major one-up on the vast majority of fintechs from the get go. Maybe I’d finally trust a digital bank with large sums of money, without having a heart attack that they might freeze my account and leave me without access for hours/days!
Except apparently >50% of it is in the Philippines if you’re to believe the media
Good to see you, @Lonford
A really neat synopsis of the offering, thanks. If we get 3/4 of that, we’ll be doing well, and the wait for DDs won’t be such a big deal.
Wonder if people will start selling invite codes on eBay or maybe they are linked to your details
I probably spent a good 10 minutes trying to force my way past the code thing yesterday. I remember doing similar when Atom launched.
If their approach is anything like Atom’s and less like Monzo’s, we’ll see them on boarding people in the tens rather than hundreds or thousands. At least for the first few weeks.
I doubt they have actually onboarded anyone yet.
Some of us must be in the very first batch, from signing up on Monday evening, so it seems unlikely to me that we wouldn’t see an invite virtually as soon as they start sending them out.
Anybody who would pay for a code needs their head examining.
Make that all Three of my Starling using friends!
Just spoken to chase and they said that the tweet is 100% correct and they have issued invite codes already this morning
