Given their less-than-technical approach to account switching (print off a form and mail it in to us), maybe they’re adopting a similarly antediluvian approach to sending out invite codes…
The real test will be “will any of our non-banking enthusiast friends switch from a traditional bank to Chase”?
People who use Starling are at least moderately interested in fintech and open to the idea of a digital-only bank.
Average people still use a “normal” bank. If they can be persuaded to switch, then Chase are on to something.
I honestly can’t see any of my circle switching. They already think I’m mad for using any FinTechs in the first place
Again, not to be cynical here, but they would say that wouldn’t they?
Also, saying they’ve issued the codes “this morning” to some people seems to imply that they started issuing the first codes this morning - when they were claiming yesterday that people were being issued codes then.
So both things can’t be true!
To be honest I think it’s very dangerous to let Americans control our finances too, what don’t multinationals have their hands in in this country already? Keep banking at the least with British companies.
But let’s not get distracted from the thread, please.
Yay, that was my favourite one!
To be honest if there were two banks with feature parity, one American and one British, I’d choose the British one (and bonus points if it’s independent and not horrible ethically). But personally if Chase comes in and offers something I find objectively more useful I’ll still use their service, and hopefully the increased competition from a banking heavyweight that’s also managed to get the tech right might give the big boys over here enough of a scare to progress their offering even more.
Bet Chase is loving all the members of the public calling them up every day to enquire if its tweets are true.
I’m not calling them, just pointing it out on the internet!
If they are getting annoyed by it, they could just send the invites out? Hint, hint!
According to their Twitter support, the Mastercard logo is on the reverse…
My guess is that they’ve changed the design part way through internal testing, hence why the person you know has the MC on the front card, and why there’s a mish-mash of both designs in their commercial.
Interesting detective work!
The most exciting thing to me is the numberless aspect, so it doesn’t really matter either way.
I do like the silver Mastercard logo as well.
Well I won’t be leaving starling for this bank. The cashback and interest is only for a year and after that there isn’t much else that interesting on offer.
Starling and Monzo may just copy their features anyway.
I HAVE GOT MY CODE!!! I’M IN!!!
Yes, this is a complete sentence, Discourse!
Just got me code !
Ahhh but Chase aren’t a fintech, are they? they’re JP Morgan, one of the largest banks in the world. Why would you be mad to use them?
Any word if there is hard search done?
What time did you guys join the waitlist?
I joined the waitlist at 23:17 on Monday evening, and got my invite code at 13:50 today.
