Chase UK Discussion

Is there anyone who has signed up to Chase that has closed their account?
Just wondering. Im finding there not really to be any use for it right now considering i have everything going with Monzo and the bills pot ontop of Virtual Card payments from bills pot has really quashed my need for any other bank account.

Its refreshing to have more than one account whereas i used to only have Monzo before Chase launched but im not really using it

I’m not using mine at the moment but I don’t see any harm in keeping it open. Improvements (especially Open Banking and Direct Debits) are likely to make me use it more.

This is enough of a reason to keep it imo. It’s a good idea to always have at least two accounts!

Just keep it dormant. Chase won’t allow another account within a year of closing it.

I’m going to milk the cash back and review it in 12 months time. Who knows I might be one of those unlucky Monzo close my account victims in that time :joy::joy::joy:

Pretty much all one can do for this 12 months. Enables us customers to watch and maybe influence app development in that time, too.

Can’t really see the point of closing it after only a week.
Admittedly I have opened and closed quite a few accounts over the years, but never before giving them all a test run first.
I’d say give it a chance, if only as a spending account and make the most of the cashback.

Looks like Chase is going to be lending fairly quickly with this deal

Can’t see enough of the article to find any lending reference. Positive move though, in any event.

This one has more information on it:

Thanks @JonasP

Looked forward to the launch for ages, got the code this week, but haven’t bothered to open the account yet, because as a viable alternative to the current accounts I already have, it’s nowhere near ready.

I think far too many people had too high an expectation for this account at its launch. As the account currently stands, it’s completely unremarkable. I’m sure it will improve as it matures, but now having an account with Chase, excites me as much as looking at my National Insurance record. I’ve stuck some money in the account, when the card turns up, it’ll go into my wallet and that’ll be that. As for the App, it’s as boring as the RBS offering. It’s only my opinion, but Chase have a lot of catching up to do to get into the same league as Starling.

The Chase debit card works at Tesco Pay at Pump. It only authorised £1 though.

Is that a Tesco thing though?
My Amex only authorises £1 at our tesco.

Sainsbury’s pay at pump is also £1

I had a £1 taken at Tesco PAP on a Barclaycard.

Starling’s latest App Date suggests that their card will have £99 pre-authorised soon, so card will fail if £99 not in the account for PAP transactions.

Not used my Chase at PAP yet as no ruddy fuel locally.

It will authorise up to max of available funds if account balance is below £100
