Chase UK Discussion

My partner has added her Chase virtual card to Google pay but Google Pay says it can only be used online not in store. That the issuer has not yet enabled in-store purchases. Will this issue be sorted once she receives and activates the physical card?
I had mine added to Apple Pay and would pay in stores before I received the physical card.
Any thoughts?

None of us know, only Chase know that surely?

Let’s be quite frank and clear here, until Chase actually make the account like most other bank accounts that you can have direct debits with, CASS into and all of the other stuff you can do with most banks, it’s just a bit lame at the moment.

People are even trying to give Chase invite codes away and seemingly there’s no takers, which isn’t surprising.

I want Chase to succeed, but as has been said already, they’ve launched a completely half arsed account which needs significant work in my opinion.

Just been to the shop in question for the first time since I raised this, and they have indeed corrected the merchant name. They have also added a logo, which they appear to have sourced from the shop’s Facebook page.

The previous transaction, however, hasn’t been retrospectively changed.

I doubt that very much!

I wonder if any of Monzo’s difficulties in the US (separate topic) might be realised by Chase over here.

Unless it affects their functionality, frankly I don’t care how tatty or scratched my cards look. It’s not mission critical. Plain matt black suits me down to the ground.

Chase do not support Google Pay atm.

Work around is use Chase via Curve in Google Pay.

Works for me, including cashback.

You’re a fan of First Direct then!

Or, after finally getting your account opened, perhaps Fineco?!

Once it allows direct debits between the seperate accounts it’ll be more on par with the competition, that and open banking

It’s certainly going to steal a bit of discretionary spending from other card providers I use - maybe in that sense it functions in with clients who aren’t one bank users…

Time will tell

And a couple of others I no longer have. They could be blue with pink spots for all I care.

Just got an invite. Tried to download for iPhone - “sorry, you need IoS 14.1 or higher” - no can do, my iPhone is ANCIENT (five years old)

Just tried my (3 year old) Samsung Galaxy J6+ phone, running Android 10 - no, this too is not up to date enough for the Chase UK app “Sorry this app is not compatible with your phone”.

I think my brief relationship with Chase UK ends here.

Their website says you need Android 8.1 and above, so it should be compatible.

Unless it’s the phone rather than the OS that it doesn’t like.

I could understand if it was a Chinese phone but…

How and when did you upgrade to Android 10, may I ask?

I have absolutely no idea - I just approve the updates as and when they are offered to me. If you don’t believe me, I can send a screenshot.

Reason I ask is cos I read that 10 could be manually installed last month, but the auto for the J6 was still in the pipeline.

Just wondering whether Chase recognises your version, which is clearly adequate as the J6 started with 8.1

All very strange indeed buddy.

I have had similar with my phone and Barclaycard Pay. Not that that affects me directly as much as your issue would you.

Update as of September 9: Today, the Samsung Galaxy J6+ is now getting Android 10-based OneUI 2.0 with build number VTI1 in Vietnam. It is available on SamMobile for download for manually flashing it or you can wait until the OTA update arrives in some time.

I sense an element of disbelief, so here is the screencap I alluded to earlier

Good to know. She doesn’t want to use Curve. I guess she will have to wait.

Slightly alarming:
Attempted to buy insurance online yesterday evening.

The merchant’s checkout page triggered the Chase approval process which, although seemingly competed successfully with the Chase “Approved” screen, returned me to the merchant site checkout page. No payment confirmation - payment not made. Three times.

Two phone conversations, a chat session, and a set of screen shots confirming what I said :point_up_2:t3: later…… still nothing. It’s with their team now.

It’s jerked my lead rather. Keep you posted……
