Chase UK Discussion

I did an online transaction with Chase yesterday, approved in app, all worked smoothly.

Mine was ATG Tickets

Round ups now available.

Yes, I’d made a successful online transaction some minutes prior

(Thanks - Roundup account now open ).

From the text presented when you add a round-up account it seems they’ll only apply the round-up to “everyday” expenditure (i.e. the same sorts of transactions where you’ll earn cashback on debit card transactions).

Yesterday I paid my local council for a garden waste collection, something that didn’t earn any cashback. And assume it wouldn’t therefore be subject to a round-up.

Through open banking I’ve seen the account number for the roundup account wonder if it’s possible to transfer money in directly?

Clearly, and I wouldn’t expect them to

Also, clearly, no one from Chase bothered to open a Starling account for themselves to see how a digital banking platform should run on a day to day basis. Had they done so, they wouldn’t have launched a piss poor half arsed attempt from the off

I did actually buy a product online using my Chase account this morning. No issues at all. I can’t wait to see the cashback hit my account when the pending transaction clears. I’m soooooo excited!!! Yes, that is me taking the piss.

As an update, I paid my American Express charge card which although the transaction was not eligible for Cashback it was eligible for a round-up.

Turns out it was a gremlin at the merchant end - the checkout process is flaky (I was told when I enquired).

So Chase are off the hook - my favourite bank of all time etc etc.

Seriously though, it’s good to know it’s not their end. And good phone and chat communication during the episode….

Thanks for keeping us posted!

CS confirmed that it’s single device login only at the moment - asked as couldn’t find in the FAQ

Must admit, Chase customer service isn’t living up to the hype for me just yet

Wanted a statement at my university address and they told me to wait until the 8th for it to be generated, lol

Edit: just changed my address in Revolut and took a statement from there, hopefully Santander likes it

Often you can generate proof of address letters from the university itself using a self-service process in the online portal for the student records system.

That may meet your needs in this situation, if Revolut is not accepted.

You have to wonder why Chase didn’t just wait a couple of weeks and launch with this feature

Unfortunately not good enough for Santander to open an account (proof of address)

Has to be from a list of their accepted documents

Going to have to scrap it if they won’t accept Revolut or Chase (in 2 days) as I don’t have anything registered to my university address.

Time to market is always important, they’ve acquired customers in this time.

You wanted a statement to your address that didn’t exist? Or did I read that wrong

Apart from collecting train tickets (now a different thread), I guess this also stops in-person use of things like Airtime Rewards working.

How did you see that the physical card number is different from the online one? I only see one number there in the app, card has no number. And it’s the number in the app that I registered with Airtime rewards

I have a card terminal at work and as being the manager there I’m able to check my card number thought that as the merchant slip shows the whole card number and expiry date only thing it doesn’t have is the cvv

Aright. So aren’t you able to add both numbers to airtime rewards? I guess I will have to make a qualifying purchase with physical card and see if it tracks with Airtime rewards.

Complete tangent - hope you’re locking those receipts away and destroying them once no longer required? Got my PCI hat on, been dealing with this at work recently :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
