You sure it’s 5 years old? Most of them are supported for 6 years now. 6s even has iOS 15 never mind iOS 14 which should be supported I think on 6 year old phones at least

iPhone 6S is the oldest iOS 15 supported device. Released in autumn 2015, it’s now 6 years old.

The iPhone 6, released a year earlier in autumn 2014, is languishing on iOS 12 as it went out of support some time ago. It’s, obviously, a 7 year old device at this point.

But this doesn’t necessarily mean that individuals all have a phone that old - if a customer bought the phone “mid cycle”, or at a lower price as an older model, then their handset will be newer. However, there is always a trade-off to that. If you buy older devices “new”, then you will always get a shorter support time than buying a device on release date for full price. So you will, realistically, be “forced” to upgrade more frequently (but you can offset this extra cost by usually paying less each time, as older phones are cheaper and often on offer).

This is why I personally always either buy devices as soon as they are released, or don’t buy that version at all (I wait until the next version comes out) because you get the most use out of them that way.

It’s a work phone so I can’t automatically update the OS. And the OS isn’t 14…

Thought this was interesting, decided to cancel an Amazon order and received an SMS from Chase about 3 minutes later saying that no money has been taken. Odd that it’s an SMS and not an app notification?

Having just this morning purchased two items from Amazon, I see there’s no Amazon logo in the transaction list, just a ‘bag’ logo. The notification on purchase was just as quick as what I get with Starling, so that’s something.

Still no physical card arrived for me as yet, but I’m not at all bothered as all of my transactions so far have been done online. I’ve even had to do the ‘approve transaction’ thing after a purchase online yesterday.

It’s all rather basic at this juncture, but let’s see what happens.

I guess more logos will be updated with time. I am just impressed that I have not yet had to contact them for any untracked cashback merchant

Well to be honest, you’d think with Amazon being a ridiculously massive worldwide company, Chase would have had the logo already primed…see what I did there?

I read somewhere that they have to get Amazon’s permission to use the logo in their app, and this has not yet been achieved, hence no logo yet.

Found it. It’s in the other place. A response from Chase:

I know it’s a bit sad of me, but I’d still like the ability to add a photo in my Chase profile. That little circle with just my initials in it, looks a bit lame

You’re not alone in your sadness….:flushed:

Ok, so my brand new Chase debit card has finally arrived. It’s totally unblemished, not a mark on it. I’ve switched off the stuff in card controls that I don’t need activated. I’ve also managed to pay money into the account from my Nationwide Joint account, which in typical Nationwide style, was a total faff with the card reader. Thankfully, the transfer from my Starling account was far less convoluted.

Also, just received my first cashback payment, so I know that’s working ok.

Still very much on the fence about the account, but it works, that’s the main thing.

Bring on dark mode!

I deliberately did a transaction under a £1 today to see if it still rounded up, as I know some others don’t (looking at you Monzo).

95p transaction

1p cashback

5p roundup

All good and smooth.

Won’t be a big money earner, but nice all the same.

I made an in-store purchase via Apple Pay on Sunday at an Airtime Rewards retailer, and that has tracked successfully. I’ve yet to use the physical card.

Well thus far in just a few days of using the account, I’ve amassed a whopping 90 pence in cashback. It would take me 7 months to earn that from Starling

I am up to £2.88

Wouldn’t amass that via Starling, Santander, and Nationwide combined!

And 97p in Roundups, earning 5%pa

Feeling rich

My Starling round-up pot currently stands at £794.88 :money_mouth_face: That’s just 1x round-ups. I started rounding up manually in the May before they released the automatic round-up feature in the December. I think it was 2018. I haven’t withdrawn anything from it.

Trouble is, this may become a thing, and you’ll never spend from it. You’ll see……:flushed:
