Some of those reviews, I just don’t recognise as being the experience I’ve personally had so far. Joining (Ok, waiting list aside), easy, no problems whatsoever. Not once had a payment in or out blocked, cashback building up quite nicely. So at this juncture, Chase no where near in the same league as Starling (or Monzo, probably), but they’re certainly not so crap that I wouldn’t recommend someone applying for an account.
As is usual though, too many people jumping on a bandwagon to join a newcomer without doing any proper research first. Still not quite sure how some non U.K residents manage to open a U.K bank account and attempt to operate it in their home country only to suffer the consequence of having the account unceremoniously closed down, which seems to happen quite frequently if you read through reviews on various sites.
To be honest, I only ever look at TP/Reddit etc, for belly laughs. I genuinely don’t take any notice of reviews as a factor on any decisions I make personally.
I would not be subscribed to any telecom if I relied on TO. Horrible reviews for all providers. Many of them are actually user problems, not provider’s.
Very interesting! I hope so! Even if it’s just at a lower rate. There mere fact these two things exist in conjunction is what makes you wanna use it, even if you barely get anything out of it on a per transaction basis. It surely adds up over the year and is better than nothing.
Yes, I’m sure other accounts reward you more for using them (like Barclays blue rewards) but it doesn’t quite feel like it does. They’re playing on some psychological thing here surely, because their feature-set is more how they make they you feel, than what they actually give you.
Cashback or no cashback, would you actually want to purchase a flight using a debit card? Personally, every single flight I’ve ever booked has been on a credit card.
I have no problem with using debit cards with KLM. They have always sorted my issues out quickly without a struggle even during the pandemic. I can take the risk
