Chase UK Discussion

I’ve just had a cashback reversal, the only one so far, for an item I bought on eBay that the seller despite advertising, didn’t actually have to sell :man_facepalming: Anyway initiated complaint and was refunded and quite rightly, Chase have taken their few pence back.

I would absolutely expect to lose cashback if a purchase was refunded. This is how my Amex and Virgin Money credit cards work.

Those schemes only pay out annually for a reason. I’m not sure instant payout is a good idea from chase. Maybe how they already do it in the US?

My Virgin Money card allows you to take the cashback at any time. I tend to leave it and let it accrue before requesting it, though I imagine if I took cashback that was later rescinded, they’d just apply the amount to my card.

So, who gets there salary paid into Chase? If so, has there been any problems? Was thinking of doing it.

I’ll consider it when Direct Debits are in place.

Same here, I will consider it once direct debits are activated.
I mentioned on the new Chase Community site that it may also be beneficial for them to launch packaged accounts, including gadget and travel insurance. That would mean I could truly use it as my main account.

Looking like the Chase Octagonauts belief that DDs will appear in Jan 2022 were misguided or misinformed.

Less than a week left :man_shrugging:

It’s likely that DD’s won’t be enough to hold on to potential “Full Chasers”.

I understand that they’ve a ton of money to support the Uk launch, but they can’t continue to buy customers.

What’s next, I hear you ask?

Little “BO” Peep lost the sheep coz the big bad wolf ‘Chase’d it away……some folks might see what I did there

Indeed…… some might….:relieved:

While that might appeal to Chase in terms of getting revenue, I’m not sure that will appeal to most of its current customer base (and even then it would have to be competitive vs. Nationwide.)

There are a number of basic features that need first.

And there’s the rub. Nationwide have the packaged account pretty much nailed. Chase surely won’t look to compete with them.

Something else - cashback or something really innovative.

Im sure it’s not universal but I’ve heard of a lot of people who pay for the nationwide account but have basically no money in the account. So how month money is nationwide actually making?

I could be wrong, but I would take a guess that although Flex Plus customers get a good deal individually
(I know I can’t buy the same insurance myself for that price)
Nationwide themselves probably have such a good deal with the providers that they do make money on the monthly fee.

They probably do, but that’s still less money than someone also using their account.

So that’s my thinking, chase could come out with some dew like this but what they probably really need is cash flow through peoples accounts

Yes. But it feels a bit chicken and egg :flushed:

Direct Debits are still in testing. Literally how long does this take??

As long as it takes to release it without any issues. I’m happy they are rigorously testing everything because companies these days have next to no quality control

Yes when you say it like that I agree. Just soon implies that it’s around the corner and leads to frustration.
